Let's talk tankless water heaters, I know one of you little shits have one. Probably jaw-knee....

Pros and cons on them? I love that I can save some space.... then I can get a water softener system in the old water heater location.

I don't have any but I thought about it, not super seriously, a while back.

Didn't do anything but sort of came to the opinion that if you're starting from scratch (new home build) or doing a retrofit on a small/low use system, like in a weekend or vacation home, it might be a good payoff.

Otherwise, the cost to outfit a house won't be recouped in a reasonable time frame.

Now, you may be able to fudge a little but with intangible benefits like space savings or whatever, but for "Joe average 'bout family" I didn't think it made sense.

Has a cool factor to it, but might not be practical.

Poor fucker.

Now excuse me while I go indulge in filet mignon and caviar, and light my cigar with a 1000 dollar bill, and wipe my ass with 100 dollar bills

Because if that's CAD, you might still be poverty.

I have one indeed I made a thread in H&G about it! I ended up getting a Rinnai unit on Amazon. We were indeed remodelling so it made sense. I'm Not sure how much 'reteofitting' is necessary, just buy the applicable one for your existing system (internal versus external and natural gas versus electric). Also a water softener upstream is a must to ensure longevity of the water heater.

My bronamath almost killed himself installing an electric tankless water heater.. fellow EE.
He was smaht enough to check that the power was off even though he turned off electricity to the garage where he was installing it.
The line it was to be hooked up to was actually running from the kitchen though..
Would recommend installing yourself though.. 10/10
Just don't be a dumbass

If you have a house full of kids, you have the potential to consume more kwh than paying for standby heat on a traditional water heater.
Instant on and not running out is nice, but you'll pay for it on the bill.
If you need the space, then definitely an added benefit.

so as long as you don't masturbate in the shower for an hour, you should be fine. I've only seen the gas powered ones here, though I'm sure electric is easily available also.

A water softener is fucking awesome though. I want one so bad, for the simple reason of not having to worry about water spots on your car after washing, and less effort in keeping your showers clean. That in itself is worth it to me.

I was just reading on jalopnik that the markup on the CTR is hitting as high as $30,000US over MSRP.

There are some incredibly stupid fucking people out there. I couldn't even fathom paying 50k US for that thing, never mind 65k in some regions.

Give it 6-12 months, and you'll see these sitting on dealer lots for MSRP, or just under.

What's worse is that you just bought a car, say at 55k. But it's actually only worth 34k. How the fuck do you get it insured without getting raked over the coals at 55k? These things will be theft magnets, or even crash magnets by fools who think they're race car drivers. Then what? You're out 20k? Hahahahahaha

Someone on our FB page posted the 25K markup

That fatty who owns a hellcat that I posted a while back got his ride appraised for trade-in. Only offered 45-48k. He paid over 70..

I saw one locally for 48k..

He tried justifying it, but he's a stupid mofo. He apparently put in an order for the demon. What a maroon. The demon should hold value better, but I'm sure he's going to pay markup.

On the civicx forum, there's a whole spreadsheet of what dealers are charging for the CTR. Most range in the 10-20k mark up, but some hit as high as 30k. You can buy two fucking CTRs at that price, 12 months from now. The lowest I think is 5k.

In the social media world, people seem so obsessed with having to be the first to own something, and get their dicks jacked off by strangers or friends online about how cool and badass they are, for a month.

After that, reality sets in and you realize you owe more money for something than its actually worth. Fucking maroons.

Golf R is like 38k.. Pfft.. Fuckacivic

Btw.. I got in a left turning lane at a red light this morning. I hear some dimbass rev his engine several times next to me. I ignored it, bc turning left moron. Anyways as the light turns green, the guy tries taking off but slow as balls. I look in my rear view mirror and it's a fat douche in his late 20s early 30s driving a 90s civic hatch.. I almost choked from laughing so hard.

Superiority complex.. It's a classic case.. Moral, religious, financial, and intellectual. Whether it's calling some woman a whore, or bragging about making $30/hr, or telling someone how to repair their car when he overspends by the thousands to get his car repaired.. It's just all a bit much. I'm sure if you crawl through his posts, you'll see why.

He doesn't seem to post much. At least not since about I joined. Or he just sits in like 2 or 3 threads only.

but I see the old school members usually give him a harsh response when he doesn't even say that much. Telling him to STFU

I see he was universally disliked on AZ, but I just never really saw why.

don't forget Matt too, more like the holy clover.

I watched the engineering explained review on the Civic Type R and I'm intrigued to drive one...290 ft/lb at 2500 to 4500 rpm should make it enjoyable to drive around town at only 3100 pounds. Also, he says NO torque steer which is impressive. It has to do with keeping the steering angle in line with the center of the tire or something along those lines.

Of the cars tested the hp/lb ratio was ONLY better in the Focus RS.

Still...even $40K for a Civic and I'd feel like a real boob for paying that. So many better new and used options...just wouldn't have the mystique.
Again, I'm not 20 anymore, which might be part of it.

I've also decided that for what I owe on the Vagon, for how reliable it's been and fun...and netting me nearly 14 mpg these days. Fuck it...she stays for a while. She's a special car.

from the few reviews I've read/watched, it still suffers from torque steer. Just not as bad as you'd expect.

Growing up driving FWD cars, I personally don't mind a bit of torque steer. Reminds you to stay focused and grip that hard... Uh... Steering wheel really tight.

I used to enjoy the torque steer and understeer in the rain with the TL. It was predictable and fun.
