About the bills...well, if you're suffocating the handler...run time would likely go up a couple hours a day to keep the same temp.

If there's one particular person that's sensitive to the air quality, consider capping the duct at the junction in the attic and springing for one of those stand alone mitsubishi systems...I had a customer once that did away with her central entirely to avoid having air traveling through ducts at all.

Well I didn't just spring for a MERV16 filter, it was the one that the air con company had included in the whole system. It wouldn't make sense for them to include it if it was over filtered would it? I considered the individual Mitsubishi systems but since the parents house was at the studs, we figured we might as well throw in a full central HVAC system. Else it was 5 Mitsubishi units for bedrooms alone...

Okay...I agree...that would have been double the cost for JUST the bedroom units and probably not even installed. So expensive...

My dad sprung for a unit for his family in Vietnam. It is the only room in their very humble home that has air conditioning and it sure was fucking glorious.... We just close off the ducts that aren't usually occupied for now .

Dude, the dr suggested the prune juice...worked like a miracle one day, then the next stuck, tried it again, worked again...but Betty was saying we shouldn't have to give it to her...I was like, maybe some babies need more fiber/prunemagic...

buy the size that goes in CLOSEST to the unit and replace with a 3M white one...or for the test, NOTHING. Usually right up against the handler...I run a cut to fit (odd size) washable one...handler is up high so no dog hair or anything...

Go stand under it before and after, if you feel a substantial bump in air flow...it's costing you money every month for excessive run time plus the raping of the unit Maj is talking about.

I've seen a LOT of high end companies talk people into those crazy filters and UV lights that come on and kill some imaginary something or other.
