no, no, you're doing it wrong. You can get the 14x30 filter for the same price as the 12x12 filter.

12x12 = 144 square inches
14x30 = 420 square inches

420/144 = 2.92 filters... for the missing 0.08 filter, just crumple up a bunch of toilet paper and cram it in the missing hole

FPR rating is bullshit. Those filters aren't bad at all, especially since these are 1-inchers (:ladiboi: ). There is a trade-off between air-flow and filtration. If you really have issues with air quality in your home, you need in-room air filters. HVAC system is to control the air-flow and temperature in the home. You add in filtration and you make the load even heavier. There's a balance. If you use too dense a filter, you can potentially overwork your HVAC system.

Those FPR 7 filters are MERV 10 rated, which is good even for those who suffer allergies and respiratory issues. Personally I use MERV 12 because I have one central filter for the whole HVAC and it's a beast. I change it out every year. You carry the outside in with you everyday. Depending on your system, your HVAC might not even draw / push air before the filter from the living space. So if you really have bad allergies and respiratory issues, you need to filter the air in the primary spaces you spend your time. You also need to be proactive about washing clothes and body right after you get in the house. It will help considerably.

We get allergen counts in the tens of thousands out here, molds, pollens, wood, all types of shit. It's a fucking battle all-season long. Once one allergy season ends, something else pops up. Right now it's cedar. The allergens leave a fucking layer on everything, so thick you actually fucking see it. Mold is very bad here year round.. even if you had a water leak nad black spot mold infested the drywall of some part of your home, the air outside would be worse most days of the year here.

We are supposedly getting a new building. Because the one we are in is a shit hole.. Built in 1964 I believe, unsafe POS.. 16 floors, 4 different state agencies. Governor announced today that he is going to take 225 mill and build a new building.

On the pulls or attached to the handler? I don't think most hospitals even use 16s. An air cleaner in the bedroom really helps. I still end up flonasing and doping up many nights to stand a chance.

Attached to the handler. It was a nice system from Costco (Lennox) and has one filter each for heating and cooling. Hopefully will help with allergies when I'm at home. I Flonase and take Zyrtec every night anyway. Oh and Symbicort....
