The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Trois)
Quite the opposite. A few years back, Wifey and I were looking at purchasing our first rental property. We checked out a bunch of places with a "basement suite" in them already.
Oh. My. God.
I couldn't believe how some of these people were living. And I couldn't believe the slum lords milking every last nickle out of the property and then selling it for a premium, even though most of these places needed a minimum of 75k put into them. New shingles, new windows, new furnace, new hot water tank, foundation cracks, mold issues, trashed interiors (not necessarily the tenants fault... a lot of these places didn't have a dime put into them over the last 30-50 years), you name it. We looked at probably 35 different homes. Not a single one of them was even close to suitable.
We vowed to never be like those slum lords.

Lost the rear just after leaving my house this morning, tires (Pirelli Diablo) are quite poor in the wet. That's okay though, didn't crash (didn't even wobble actually). This is how you learn.

I'm tired of not being surprised when peeps share new stories of a dead buddy or one who's grossly fucked the fuck up. There are also a ton of people that are fine every day riding. But I don't care, we need you alive. We you.
it's a numbers game. Ask Frantz, he'll tell you to cash in your chips now.

We've been lucky with the tenants we have. Treat them well and they treat the place are staying in well in return. Or, at least for now, anyway.
I wanted to get more into the rental business, but now I'm not so sure anymore. We'll keep the places we have now, but I don't think I want to acquire more of them. I want to try something else. I don't even want to be an engineer anymore, to be honest.
As for how many places- we have three doors, not including our own.

Thanks Trick Daddy...
didn't get a chance to respond that day, Maj...but I once got pushed out of my lane by that fool. Local highway, late at night...on a curve...big lime green suburban...I just move over and look over hard and am greeted with a fantastically Opa Locka grill...
We love the kids.

Saw a vid recently of a rider who slid under a big rig.. really freak accident. Brains hanging out.. splattered everywhere.
Saw another vid where a truck crushed the lower half of a riders body. Fucking legs here and there.. they were still alive, conscious. Fucking touching their intestines, trying to keep their shit together (literally). Eventually bled out.. fucking minutes later.

I know, I know, but I just can't do that. Something about ethics, yadda, yadda, and morals, blah, blah.

I just fooking with you, don't be a slumlord. I'll say this.. my brosef worked for GE (part of their gruesome exec program.. path to CFO camp). He left, grinded it out in real estate for a few years, then became a broker and started his own business. During that time he acquired properties, managing them, selling some when the time was right.
Anyways, in less than 8 years, millionaire.. still running the office, but he made a goal to get a solid foundation beneath him. I'm sure his real estate business alone is doing millions in business revenue every year. But it's his properties that really put him in the fuck you money zone.
