At the risk of causing a helpful discussion... Any recommendations for a good doorway pullup bar that doesn't fuck things up?

I'd like to do a pullup every couple weeks or so but can't get to the gym. It'd be nice to have one in the house but not at the expense of cocking up a wall or doorframe or anything.

The leverage ones are great. I've used a bunch of different ones, none of them have damaged a door frame.

Yup I agree with Vlad. I picked one up from walmart a couple years ago for fairly cheap. Never damaged anything and can still support my 235 pound ass

Good article PB, but who really needs "the best". Just need a fuckin bar to pull your fat ass up lol. $20 bucks, done. Been using it since 2010. Will probably have to replace the foam pretty soon though.

The $20 option you suggested will be good for most, has the usual grips.

The great thing about some of the suggestions in the article (the perfect fitness multi-gym for instance) is the possibility for the wider overhand grip which really stimulates the lats and much less the triceps.

I actually just have a $20 one I screwed into the door frame, it followed from my townhouse to the rental, to this house...sweet thing is I can easily add the elbow straps for some core workout too. Plus, the frames at this house are all 8' high...
I had some sort of tennis elbow sprained tendon that would get aggravated with pull-ups so I've held off...but little by little I'll give it a shot.

I have a set of build your weight dumbells...I can add up to like 40 pounds but then it gets bulky and I don't trust the cheap weight clamps to not drop a 5 pounder on my meat, or toes.

Also, my job can be a workout, up/down a 14 ft ladder...lifting it over my shoulders...usually I military press it a bit too...

The kicker is I'm an all or nothing person...so because I'm doing vodka and pizza, I don't give a fuck about trying to get fit. Dangerous game...but I was probably 225 when I went in for knee surgery 3 months ago...I was at 240 this morning. Fuck.
