Online is the way to go. Back in the day, I bought a killer system and I bought everything online, from the US. I didn't get warranty because it was cross-border (bs...) but I saved a ton of cash.
What would have cost me 3k here, I ended up paying something like $1700, from the US.

I might not know the inside and outs of the reseller business, but I have passed my business major with flying colors and remember enough from my classes to have credibility.

Problem is often shipping cause good amps and speakers are often pretty heavy. And the dollar sucks donkey balls right now so sometimes buying locally just makes more sense... enter independent shop that's specialized into car audio.

If you buy all your stuff from specialized places usually they calm down on the markup, even more so if you're going for the whole install which I would strongly suggest most people do because most people = tards.
That said, I've bought audio equipment from the states before and had nothing but good experiences. Ideally not through UPS though.

They leave their homes because it's apparently awful and oppressive there, yet they bring everything over here. I don't get it.

Honestly IDGAF cultural or religious issue. They can do what they want in their country or homes. The rules are this, you obey or you GTFO.
That doesn't go only for the niqab but for all the PC stuff as of late. I remember that story maybe a year or 2 ago where some people complained because they could see people training in the YMCA wearing only skimpy training outfits through their apartment windows. And they won. YMCA has to get all their windows fixed, which were already frosted but not frosted enough .
