Alright, it's not quite 4:00 yet, but I'll drop my CSB now anyway since it's somewhat relevant to recent discussion. cul0 drives the CVT a couple years ago:

Went and test drove a 2014 Accord Sedan "Sport" a couple weeks ago. They only had slutboxes available so I was like, what the hell, I can at least get a feel for the car and engine. Sales dude didn't know shit and these are the two best lines he dropped on me.

First: "the engine has VTEC which" (since I had told him we had a 2003 accord), as I know, "keeps the engine in the powerband all the time?"

Word. all because of VTEC.

Second: was that "if the car started to sense slippage or something it will start to send power from the front wheels to the back." I was like, "wait, whut? Are you saying this is an AWD car?" And he's like: "no, not AWD... It's FWD but when it needs to it sends power to the back."

I just gave him the WTF face and was like, "um okay."

After the fact, even wife was like, "what the fuck was that dude talking about?"

Riiiight. totally not what AWD does. So the car totally isn't AWD. Just FWD with vectoring. Yeah, drivetrain vectoring. Evidently it uses magics.

I was just thinking, dude the only way the rear wheels will be powered is if you've seriously fucked up and smashed the cabin in half so the back tires are touching the front tires. Direct drive style!

Then on the way back to the dealer I figured out that the POS has a CVT. Then his whole "VTEC in the powerband all the time" started to make sense. VTEC and CVT both have the same letters, so... yep.

But POINTING TO THE ENGINE and telling me about VTEC vis-a-vis "in the band" does not equate to the tranny. Wait. Although, since the tranny is right there too... maybe he was closer that he thought.

Anyway. Goofus made me laugh. Don't buy a CVT accord. Also drove a Focus ST and Fiesta ST.

That was my feeling with both my uncle Sentra SE-R. He bought a black one then a white one and both were just like keep pressing on the go forward pedal. It worked fine, but it felt "broken".

Not sure why he didn't buy an Altima... but then he went and bought a Kia cause working there.
