It's one thing if it's a request. It's another if it's part of their repertoir. I love seeing these 40+ year old guys that claim to be DJs, but all they do is select songs from itunes and press play on their laptop. Such skills! Much impressive!

It's funny you bring that up- I remember seeing stats for soldiers using their weapons in WWI vs WWII. I don't remember the numbers (although I'm sure they can be easily found online), but the soldiers in WWI rarely fired when given a chance. At the end of the war, the big boys looked into it, realized the soldiers needed more training, confidence, etc. The numbers of bullets used per soldier in WWII went up signifcantly.

My ninja..

I want to buy high-end audio. But my ears are so burned out.. probably waste of money. I did take NPR's test with tidal samples on several songs. I first listened to a pure output on my laptop through my Sony XBRs, scored 1 out of 10 on uncompressed, but guessed 9/10 on the 320kbps.. then I put on AT M50x through a DAC.. got 8/10 uncompressed, 2/10 320. obamanotbad.jpg

I haven't taught diving in over a decade cuhhz. But I'll teach you how to deep sea dive (dis butt).

I'll teach again once I move back to da aina. I still keep my membership active non-teaching status. Shiett.. I'll teach you how to shoot guns underwater tho. I still have my bang stick. I had some bros fab a bang stick for a 12-gauge shell.. they dumb AF.

A bullet doesn't travel very far underwater, so you need to get close to your target (fish). If you shoot a fish with 12-gauge buck / birdshot at close range, you're going to blow it the fuck up. I never saw how it ended for them, buttt was like.. good luck.

Well between WWII to Vietnam, some shit was lost. Of course the draft was a haircut, a march, and packing orders. Today's military is a bit more professional, but I'm pretty sure there are still a good amount of soldiers who are ill prepared. Especially an 18 year old. Shiett.. I definitely don't think young men have emotionally matured enough to handle that shit, which is why I think so many comeback fucked up. I think a 30 year old is much more prepared in general.

I wouldn't go as far as say everyone should carry, but everybody should have a modicum of knowledge about guns for sure. That modicum of knowledge might as well lead to firearm permit/carry license/whatever is the minimum in your country/state.

I chuckled at Chad too because I'd be surprised if you pulled a gun on him.

Went to my aunt wedding this summer, some "friend" offered to DJ... 60 years old guy, dressed all in black with a black stetson, calls himself DJ Mr Black.

It was terrible.

Definitely don't mean every single person.. but I also meant south of your border. There's more guns than people here. Taking guns away is not going to happen.. might as well get more people to carry. In cases where some nut job pulled out a gun and someone was nearby who was carrying, they either disrupted a massacre by drawing fire away, scared the nut job away completely, or dropped said nut job. It's completely effed,

Wouldn't the underwater shock wave be catastrophic to the shooter of the 12ga shell?

Well you sure aren't in science land.

What do they teach instead of science up in Canada? Advanced appologying?

Sci fi land me thinks.
There's no reason why it would blow out your ear drums more than from not being in water. Sound does travel faster and sound is less attenuated than in air but not to a discernible difference. Speculation though.

Extracting maple syrup and skinning a polar bear is nothing short of an art. Don't hate.

Energy is carried much differently through a fluid than through air.

Can't believe they forced me to learn that. Algebra and maple syrup tapping/collecting + making have to be the least used skills I learned from school.

Sound travels a lot faster underwater (4x), but water is not as compressible as air, so there's not really a shocking effect to it. You can hear the powder going off but that's about it. Plus the shot is taken at a distance away from you usually (spear tip).. not close up like holding a shotgun / rifle / pistol.

I should reiterate- and I knew you'd give me a ribbing, lol.

What I meant to say is that air is compressible, unlike water. I figured the wave created at the barrel end would continue outwards by the shooters ear, since nothing is getting compressed. But, if I'm not mistaken, water causes the energy to "die" out faster, doesn't it? It's been so long, lol...

When the bride wants certain things played at her wedding, you play them. Rule #1 of weddings.

Otherwise, yes read the crowd and don't just play stuff to play it. This goes for any function or venue

You can fast forward to the 1:10ish mark.. bang!
This guy is using a powerhead.. more sophisticated than some of the redneck bangsticks we created. Also not very sporty to scuba + powerhead.. it's like shooting deer from a hut from 20 yards while luring them with a feeder.
It'll give you a sense of what it's like though..

Oh! Texas hunting!

I always thought that was a joke until moving to TX and learning that is how people "hunt" around here. Like, that's not hunting. That's just killing. But whatevs.

So that spearfishing thingy. Is that just using a blank charge to generate the propulsive force to push the spear? Or is there some sort of energy capturing device that catches the projectile and pulls the spear? Seems like it would be the former...
