aw, I thought this would get a chuckle.
Nilly, you're all over the map with your cars. Del Sol is cool, but good luck finding one without rust. Plus, older Hondas just don't feel like newer ones. The 80s-90s Honda manual shifters feel sloppier than Js butthole, compared to anything after 2002. Plus, at a bare minimum, it needs the B16 engine- you could get that engine stock on some models, but they were rare due to price. Most others had the D series engine. By today's standards, a B16 is slower than death. I'd suggest going up to a B18c1 or B18c5. You'll appreciate the small bump in torque, as the 111lbft the B16 puts out is brutal.
Really though, the way to go is a K20, but they're still pricey to swap. Much cheaper than years ago, but you still have to buy a lot of parts to make it work. The good thing is that it's pretty much plug and play these days. Just make sure you have cash to go that way.
I remember a guy in highschool would drive his Del Sol pretty damn hard. He twisted the frame driving with the roof off He took a piece of string and put it diagnol across the roof. one side was tight. The other side had a sag. Whoops!

I wouldn't honestly do a Civic/Teg build just for the fact your ass is still sitting in a stupid ass breaking Civic/Teg. At some point in life you gotta graduate from highschool and realize your riced out Civic is only cool to your napoleon dynamite level mustache friends and yourself. Your backwards OBEY cap and "Only God can judge me" tattoo don't cut it, you're not "with it" anymore.
Then maybe you also realize there's all the inherent issues with boosting a lightweight FWD car and constantly battling wheel hop after sinking so much money in a turbo build with an exhaust that sounds like a can of beans with a hole in it. Sure it eats a bad driver in a Vette in straight line, but you're still forever known as "the guy who spent so much money on an old Civic"
The majority of the people I know who had cars like these looks at their past self with regret at how homo-erotic they looked all while thinking they were the shit. They grew up now and buy V6 sedans in an unassuming color so they don't attract cops too much with their slightly too dark window tint.
If that's your thing and you're ready to deal with the backlash or by some miracle make something nice out of that Civic instead of shopping for parts in the bargain bin, then go ahead. When done properly they can be great machines and you'll get to learn a lot about cars by toying with one. I've had the chance to sit in great builds that were work of love from people who invested a lot of money and a lot of time in them and those are a class apart from the typical engine swapped Civics.

You can still build a B16 or a B18 but the clean cars are getting rare. They have all been fucked with to no end, either rust buckets or ghetto rigged cars. The clean ones fetch a pretty penny.

I don't think building a Civic/teg is a bad idea, so long as you don't drop an absurd amount of money on it. When I upgraded from my '92 Si to my '03 Accord, I was blown away by the torque of the J30 (lol), and blown away by the refinement of the car in comparison. After the Accord was gone, I went back to a '99 SiR which made me happy for a little (6 months), but I too got tired of having to ring the engine out to get moving. Everyone thought I was trying to race them. Who the fuck tries racing a 160hp/111lbft Civic? I was just trying to get moving, lol.
Like all Hondas, a good condition, top trim example will be very expensive. But even a good condition 20 year old Del Sol will be showing it's age. It's inevitable, unless you find that 1 in a million owner, which is rare for such a car. I haven't seen a 90s civic or integra without rust in the last 5-8 years, unless it's been repaired. But who knows how well that repair was even done.

You can build the B16/18, but you're not getting much more torque out of it, unless you go FI. The more horsepower you are getting is generally in the high rpm range, making it kind of useless for daily driving. Why you would drop 6000+ to go FI on a car worth 3000, I have no idea.

And there lies the problem. No matter how cheap it is to work on one of these, it's still a decent load of cash if you want something nice. All this money would be better spent on a car that's newer and ideally RWD. In all honesty, it might not turn out as fast as the Civic build, but it won't be a stripped down Civic and that's a good thing.
All the "clean" looking Civic and Tegs I've seen here had panels replaced. As you said, it's inevitable that they show their age. It's hard to keep a cheap car from the 90ies in a pristine state. Even more so in Canada

I was mostly referring to Chinese & Japanese difference, although if you include Viet and Koreans I guess it goes Vietnamese then Chinese and Japanese and Korean on the same loudness level AKA never say a word.

I think if we just call them all Orientals, it'll make things easier.. too many denominations.

It's easy to forget how diverse China is and how the people differ from one region to the other. Most of my contact has been with mainlanders and a bit of HK and Taiwan mixed in.

i know what you mean though man, sales is tough, and for something like TSLA, most people that buy Teslas aren't on the fence whether or not they'll do it, it's more options they're worried about.

These jobs are not for everyone, you must have a genuine passion for selling the best vehicles in the world. Without passion, you will find what we're trying to do too difficult.
i already believe.

Tesla is always in the news.. but their money is still tight. They're backed, but we'll see if they can be profitable in the long run. The battery plant is a good start.

If you can talk a straight guy into tossing your salad, you can sell an electric car to a hipster yuppie fuck, no problem.
Electric cars are the future. But next to the eCar, will be the V. Because America.
