Is that a gixxer or r6? Can't tell. Where's the serbian when you need him. Regardless.. running down even a 600cc crotch rocket is impressive.

LOL...well, in his defense, I was a lot more stupid my last go around with the S2000. Hadn't had RWD since HS and even then, my experience was limited.
This car has me grinning from ear to ear though...super happy with the looks and sound and how it drives. Got the TL under a car cover and one of those trendy taut canopies I've suspended over to keep the sun off her paint/headlights.

dude, get some actual UHP tires. Just because they say UHP, doesnt mean they are. Not all tires are created equal... I don't know what RE-11As are classified as, but they handle like you wouldnt believe in the wet. And on dry? It's like driving with velcro on the wheels, with the road surface being the other half the velcro...

The 225 doesn't help, contact patch is smaller than it should be. I don't do a lot of mileage though so I might run them this year and sell them when winter comes. No sure.
Priority right now is the tranny work. I was thinking upcoming weekend but it's supposed to rain apparently.

since we get some snow but not insane amount, I run UHP All Seasons in the winter..you want narrower in the winter and wider in the summer...
PS: I know you are in montreal, am sure nothing but winter tires (and an AWD SUV) work for you guys

Winter tires are obligatory in Quebec. I've had FWD, AWD and RWD cars in winter without issue, so far the TL has been one of the more 'meh' FWD I've driven in winter. It's too heavy to make it enjoyable and my hand brake doesn't work (gotta repair it, or remove it completely...).

Boost will stay the same, however, I really want to swap the engine from 2.0 to 2.5. Wifey says only if the current engine blows up. I don't have the heart to purposely ruin an engine, however, the 06-07s have been known to fail prematurely from hard driving. So I'm gonna continue at it until something fails, lol.
A brand new crate engine with 0 mileage from Mazda is only 3500... And everything I have bolts up without issue. Weight might increase a bit, but I doubt much. Maybe 20lbs? I can live with that.

It's only cause mine is rusted dead. You can pull it but it doesn't hold the car and when you put it down it still rubs a bit. Happens all the time on AT canadians cars, nobody uses them so they end up crumbling in tiny pieces.
I could fix it, which would be the proper thing to do, but I'm not sure I care enough.

well I was talking from a weight loss point of view
I *think* Tim (Inaccurate) mentioned that after he removed his parking brake, the car felt more "free" or more willing to "coast"

"But why does my sonata have these shitty all seasons on it, then?"
"Uh, er... They're, uh, not shitty... They just don't, uh, make the sizes I need for, um, my cars... "

As for reliability... I guess there's only one way to find out

Yup, and tires are an expensive maintenance item. Well, they can be cheap, but it's such a major compromise then. I've always sold it to wifey as a safety aspect- that way she never says no, lol.

Actually, you're half right on that one, LOL. They do produce a shit ton of them- it's just the standard 2.5L they use on a lot of their cars. Nothing special about it. But more displacement means more fun!!

Edit: I don't have a lot of data regarding the reliability, but one of my friend had a 2.5L Mazda 3 which he boosted with his dad money after he crashed his bimmer. It seemed to hold well... and it hauled enough ass. Nobody suspected that from a stock looking Mazda 3 haha

Are you planning on keeping the S/C with the 2.5?

Can't stand the MS3 look though (sideways trucker hat nothx). Right before the TL I was looking for a MS6 but gave up, the clean ones are so rare, they are all rusty here. Thanks Mazda!

Yup, absolutely can't stand the look of the 3, new or old. Honestly, I can't really stand the 6 either. OK, I can't really stand anything Mazda has made short of the older Miata and the RX7 lol

Oh, for sure!! Like i said, it bolts right up without issue. I've been reading that the car keeps up with corvettes and "eats" Porsches. Now I don't know which models they're referring to, but I'm gonna guess a base corvette and entry level Porsches. I have no idea how much smoke they're blowing out their asses with such comments, but it's interesting to hear.
My Civic with racing stickers (and otherwise all stock) would eat lambos
I was off on my numbers though- I've read the SC 2.5 can get close to 400hp, but becomes insane to drive. 330hp is a better number to go with (less boost). On a 2650 pound car = 8lbs/hp I'm currently sitting at 260hp at the wheels. The torque gain on the SC 2.5 is apparently crazy. Near linear torque curve.
Yeah, I'm doubt the MS3s pull on a BMW (maybe a 320i lol)... Those things are known for wheel spin even in stock form. If adding more boost, it's just too much to get the power to the ground. The fun of FWD...

Watch the MS3 they had on the Smokingtire recently
I've been in one pushing about 350hp with some weight reduction and its a neat little car - and sorry I should've said pull from a roll lol. Launching an MS3 is more futile than launching the TL
