3 miles per gallon = 300 smiles per gallon (rounded up to the nearest sh*t stained underwear).
I know the feeling though...when you get done doing something really awesome and you didn't jump a curb or flip the car and for a split second as the adrenaline is leaving you finally try and decide if you just had fun, got really fuking scared...or both.

My heart was pumping extra heavy the other day sitting in my cube just thinking about lighting up the tires. #cardio

BTdubs.. I hit reverse the other day and put my foot into the throttle because the the TL was sluggish AF in reverse. I think I got small kine whiplash.. and almost pulled a spacejam and hopped the curb.. I think it accelerates in reverse faster than the TL going forward.

I'm getting too confident at this point.. I'm trying to be chill.
I meant it was a dog in reverse.. not slow to engage.

Iunno, mine is perfectly fine *knocks on wood*
In fact shifts in sport mode are surprisingly quick given all of the hate it gets
We'll see what it feels like after I go with Redline Type F + change the 3rd and 4th pressure switches

In slow in both terms. The slow engage is my pressure switches, obvs, from my 2nd to 3rd being harsher than normal. Still, 5AT on the V6 Hondas... god.

Used to be mighty fine, then... well it wasn't fine. I blame winter. I'm keeping it soft until I get to do the switches. Then I'll 3x3 this mofo. Don't have access to a garage though unless I bug my uncle about it and CBA rolling around in slushy snow to do shit like this obviously.

It's interesting because while the shift from 2nd to 3rd when using sport mode is definitely noticeably more "firm", its 100% smooth in auto for me - in fact its not really all that noticeable even when I'm looking for it. Now manually downshifting from 3rd to 2nd ... definitely harsh

Reverse and 2nd to 3rd doesn't involve pressure switch. It could be actuator, otherwise it's fluid and mechanical effort. Don't mix fluids.. what fluid are you on now and when did you change it?

Maj I'm curious as to what the pressure switch change does then? I get that it wouldn't do anything for reverse being slow to engage (that one seems like a no-brainer to me at least) but lots of people have said that their shifts from 2nd to 3rd were significantly smoother with an ATF swap and new pressure switches... or would that be primarily from the new ATF?

1-2-3 is actuator + accumulator + mechanical, no switch engagement. 3-4-5 engages switches at a certain line pressure, you change the switches because the spec on switch activation gets sloppy. There's nothing wrong with Honda ATF. Just don't drive 100k miles on it without changing it. Change it at least every 25-30k miles.

Just be careful with the ATF fill plug when popping it. I believe crabs had an issue with his fill plug at some point.
Otherwise changing your ATF is easier than changing your oil IMO.

he did the work, i was just supervising (like always ) and he broke the fill plug...cracked the threads to the tranny case by using a breaker bar.
wasnt able to screw the plug back in because the threads were missing on the tranny case.

Well.. that's a loaded question. If it's old ATF.. it might only be running because the fluid is nice and thick. datass.jpg
Honda ATF is fairly thin. So.. if there is a mechanical issue already, the thin stuff will polarize it. If your car has a history of ATF changes, you shouldn't worry. If you have +100k miles on it with no record of change.. might want to just let it run into the ground. Otherwise do a change and fill, drive around for a while just to make sure it's not problematic before doing further change and fills.

was his name Murphy?
I apply a certain pressure with impact extensions and breaker bar.. if it feels too tight, I tighten a bit then take a hammer to exert quick pressure to pop it.

3rd gear pressure switch engages at a much lower pressure because it's fucked. Car flicks to 3rd gear when it shouldn't. Grabs when it shouldn't, pretty much. Or at least that's what I heard.
Either way, I need to do both because this shit breaks apart. It's not a the slipping stage yet, but I imagine it would soon be. Used to be fine prior to winter, isn't so fine now.
I keep on putting off doing the 3x3 myself but it needs to get done for my own peace of mine - I just recently did my first oil change after picking the car up in November and in all honesty I think I just got very lucky with my purchase because like my mechanic said, the maintenance records check out like an A+ student's transcript, but seeing as the ATF stuff and the switches aren't listed as regular maintenance at the dealership, I'm sure its still riding on Honda ATF.

Edit: Nvm, well lol, yeah ain't gonna do that.

funny enough, his name is Justin. we worked together at some point in time and I didnt know he bought a TL.
he Dumped the TL shortly after that and picked up a G8.
dont know if it's the GXP in six speed or not, we lost contact.....probably because of fill plug incident.

Its a shame really because I think its an awesome car - I was considering one before the TL, but just couldn't find a V8 G8 with low mileage in Ontario or Quebec.
Honestly, would rather own a G8 versus a vette - same engine but all the creature comforts of a sedan

Redline and D4 mix bullshit. Everyone do yourself a favor and use D4 or stick with Honda ATF.
