Briefly interrupt the salading and etc. in this thread to share a neat pic of Little Cha's reaction to the balloons we had set up to surprise him this morning for his 2nd b-day...

Just thought I'd drop in and say hello. Hope everyone has a great weekend! I picked my car up from the Bodyshop earlier, and she looks nice. They ended up replacing the whole front bumper cover. It's smooth as a baby's butt with not one scratch on it. However, it is aftermarket and doesn't have Acura indented on it. That doesn't really bother me though. I'm just so glad to have her back. That Passat I had as a rental was just not appeasing to me at all! I always thought they looked pretty good going down the road, but then I drove one, and I was turned off. The TL has a hint of sportiness to it that makes it fun to drive IMO. The Passat is a straight up mom car.
pb, I really hope you get the tranny issues worked out. Mine was serviced by Acura at 36K and then I did a 3x3 myself with DW1 at around 75K. It still shifts smoothly with no issues. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fine for at least 4 more years. Most of my mileage is on the interstate, so I'm just cruising in 5th.
Anyway, I haven't eaten all day, and I'm thinking about some Hibachi Grill and/or Sushi.
You guys have a good weekend and be safe!

Happy you got the car back Jamie! I'm really looking forward to getting my paint cleaned up in a couple of weeks but kind of dreading the couple of days I won't get to drive her and will be forced into my parents' Civic
Haven't had sushi in forever - this makes me sad. Me and bandmates used to go every week for all you can eat sushi near our practice space and it was amaaaaazing.

I'm sure my tranny will be fine. Probably. Maybe. Like I said I've been putting it off, it has not gotten "worse" in the sense that I started noticing it during the middle of winter but since then it has been pretty stable.

I'm sure the tranny will be fine too - But might as well do the switches and ATF sooner rather than later. I keep telling myself this as well and yet ...
I just really really want to get the skirts painted so I can get the lip kit and suspension and wheels on and stop looking at all these parts lying in my basement. And yes I realize this is most certainly a moment

Only reason I haven't done the switches + 3x3 is because it didn't seem necessary last year and then winter hit and it started doing it.

I did - sad story is, they no longer had ABP side skirts. So I got NBP side skirts instead and I'm going to get them painted ABP. Its going to be 200$ for the work, but I figured I wanted the kit bad enough to warrant the extra expense, since it was pretty much my #1 mod right off the bat.
My other plan was to potentially get the kit wrapped or plasti-dipped a darker neo-chrome - My uncle in Ukraine did that to his Audi Q7 (which was a similar dark blue to the ABP) and it actually looked fantastic. Right up until a Bentley ran into him and totaled it. Ukrainian roads, huh

They still have plenty of NBP since it wasn't discontinued in 05 like ABP was. Kind of sad too because I think the ABP is my favorite color out of all the TLs - I could have bought an SSM or an NBP instead and I got ABP because I've always loved the dark blue on BMW M cars and the ABP reminded me so much of that

Well swoosh, innacurate, IHC and plenty of others all ran Type F + D4 mix, some of them with a shit-ton of miles on their trannys with no issues. From going over the Racing ATF and Optimal % of Racing ATF threads I found little evidence over a fairly long period of time of issues. So I'm going to go out on a limb and try it out. One way or another I put in an order for 12 quarts of each.

Honestly for me it was a matter of everything needed to be functional and clean - I had a bit of a strict criteria in terms of what I wanted and I'm surprised I made it work in my price range. I got mine for 13 800$ after taxes and fees, and this included pretty much all the inspection and e-test goodies, and I got the dealer to throw in plates because I was lazy and didn't want to do them myself.
Funny story though - I bought the TL primarily because it was literally the vehicle I got quoted lowest for on the insurance quotes I did. Lower than a Corolla, Civic, Camry, you name it. Weird huh

Got my TL last July, 04 5AT NBP with 137km on the counter for $8600. Not in the books anymore because it's a 10 years old car so the seller "sold" me it for $1 at the registration.

Since I don't know your age, I'll go with the quote my 21 yrs old brother got for a $4K car that's from 2006 or so... $3000!

4700 a year. Granted I only have my G2, but nonetheless this is with drivers ed and everything. I feel like I'm going to get laughed at here but that's just the reality of living in Ontario.

Not that terrible. My brother got a Coupe Cobalt 2005 for $4K and if he wanted to insure it for everything it would have been around $3K a year. He got only responsibility which is obligatory... You're driving a car with V6 in it, and although it's not a racing car by any means if you put one in the wrong hands it's easy to hit the ditch.

Man that cake looks great haha! That's not her first cake decoration right? Mad props for people who do that, I tried with a good friend once and she showed me some stuff... well when I made it it sucked pretty bad.
Also don't make him wait you monster, give him the cake already.

Where the F are you all shopping for car insurance? I just turned 25 and have a clean record, so mine just went down a bit.
I'm at $550/yr for $300k responsibility, $300k uninsured motorist, Collateral and collision deductibles of $2000 (I'll fix it myself if it's less than that).
1 Mill Responsibility?!?! Are you playing bumper tag with Lamborghinis?!?!

I'm just playing, but really the minimum for responsibility here is 1 million. Nobody offers less. Anyway that's not what is expensive when it comes to insurance, it's collision mostly.

Now I might add that I'm pretty much who they make all their money on - 21 year old male. Pretty much commonly accepted to be the highest insurance bracket. Funnily enough since I live in the suburbs, I actually pay about 300 less a year than if I lived in Toronto, which is only ... 5 km away. ALSO, I bought a TL because guess what - I'd be paying 5200$ a year for a Corolla. FUCK. THAT.
I spent 4 years commuting 1 and a half hours to work every day, on a terrible transportation system and I was already paying 2500 a year in transportation for public transit. I decided to say screw it, get my G2 (I had my G1 since I was 16) and get a car because saving a good 2 hours of assfucking each day was worth the money in my mind.

Sorry, genuine rambling rant here, I just feel really pissed off about the whole thing. At the end of the day, I sit down in the car and realize how its been by far the best purchase I've ever made, so I can't say shit.

Not really an option for me to be honest. With the way Toronto is, its very hard to get away without collision. Don't get me wrong, I'm paying the insurance out of my pocket - mommy and daddy aren't paying it for me, and I'm proud of the fact lol, I just wish I didn't have to bend over and take a ramming without lube

Still, beaters are great. Crash it? Trash it. Insurance pays for the other person and you start a new. You'd be surprised what $1500 can get you if you look around and don't mind the mileage.
