I noticed the extended belly model after I posted that pic. But for some reason it wouldn't let me copy and paste the picture with 3 hot Mexican chics.

So I went to the auto show here on Saturday- still sucks, as per usual. They claim we have the 2nd biggest show in Canada, yet we get nothing special at the show.
Wifey and I took a look through the Acura display- I brought her to the TLX and asked for her opinions. Told her Acura phased out the TL and TSX and came up with this. She looked around it, opened the door, sat down, felt the materials, looked at the dash and gauges and finally asked "what does this go for?"
"Well, a fully optioned one will break the 50k mark. But this one, the TLX V6 Elite, is 48k before taxes"
"what did we pay for our Sonata?"
"36k, all in"
"This thing is 12k more (still add tax and delivery, etc) and looks and feels no different than the Sonata. The interior materials feel cheap. The dash looks no different than the Sonata- in fact, it looks a little emptier. There's no panoramic sunroof. No heated rear seats. The Sonata exterior is much nicer. What is the power output?"
"290hp, 267lbft."
"What does the Sonata put down?"
"274hp, 270lbft"
"yeah, no thanks. I'll keep the sonata"
And there we have it, folks. This is why Acura keeps selling low numbers.![facepalm](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/facepalm.gif)

I have a feeling the Genesis 3.8 with technology package is a closer comparative to the TLX though.
Something else is the warranty. Hyundai has top notch warranty. Acura is like any other auto maker.

I enjoy the 3G TL, but I'm not thinking of an Acura for my next car.

I'm not going to replace my 3g with another acura either. Maybe a 2 door accord.
But you couldn't give me a free Hyundai after my experience with a Kia. I realize Hyundai has come a long way and that an Acura, Mercedes and Lexus rolled into one car looks kind of neat.
The craftsmanship of the product is sub-par. Replacing an alternator and a door motor at 48k miles and then breaking interior pieces. Major interior pieces. By barely touching them to do repairs is not my idea of a sound car.
Honda/Acura interior may seem cheap. But you can take it apart and put it back together dozens of times without worrying about breaking anything.

With import laws coming to the 25 year mark and the easier importation of JDM cars, I am seriously considering saving money and buying an R33 or a FD RX7 in a couple years.

The only other option I see after selling my TL will be to also sell my truck which is still hanging on 175k miles later. And purchasing a newer truck.
If I even considered buying a new TLX I would first consider purchasing a Ford Raptor.

But rust.
![Cry](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/cry.gif)
Regarding Kia, uncle works at a Kia dealership right now. Sold his Nissan to buy a Kia. Even the base cars are fully equipped so that's very interesting. There's barely any issues with the cars he works on, easy peasy repairs, nothing out of the ordinary. I wouldn't buy a Kia because the models don't interest me, but I wouldn't fear them if my needs changed. Also they don't rust like Mazdas.

Well I am going for an MRI today and depending on results might be having neck surgery. So I am not sure how much longer a slammed TL on firm suspension is going to fit the bill.
And I need to have a truck laying around because Murica.
So my vehicle situation may change. And with a gaggle of children I need something that can at least seat 7 in a pinch. However the suburban is running stronger than ever after putting 40k + miles on it in 2 years. But in the event that goes down I do need a 2nd vehicle with higher seating capacity.
So my options are quite limited. If I have to sell my car and truck and could only have 1 vehicle. It will be a 4 door truck.

The wifey and I have been sensible and each of us bought a 2 year old preowned car and we both have kept the car for a while...she has a 2003 Lexus ES which she bought in 2005 and I have the 2005 TL which I bought in 2007...
I want to buy just one brand new car as a gift to the wifey and something in the lines of "here is a gift for keeping a steady head on your shoulders"
but everytime I see a new car and its price after 2 years, I am unable to make that decision haha LOL...maybe sometime down the line

yeah, but see, Japanese cars hold their value sooooo well, it not much of a difference...
we are looking into a Honda Odyssey (
) and brand new Touring are about 44-42K and 2 years old, ~30-40K miles on it is about 37K...
on the flipside, I recently test drove the X5 50i Xdrive, fully loaded...2013 model 50K miles, retailed for over 75K and the BMW dealer had it for 42K...was very very tempted, but no warranty and no 3rd rows were a major turn off...even worked him down to 37K with warranty hahaha, but the 3rd row has to be installed by factory...hence it was a no go
but yeah price was half for a model which is 2 years old....

Swoosh, we've had this talk lol
My suburban gets much better gas mileage than the odyssey I had. Granted I didn't have the VCM model, but I also heard that had issues re-engaging from a stop and at highway speeds unless they fixed that.
Plus 3 rows in an odyssey is only good for 2-5 year olds. After that the leg room sucks. Leg room in a burban is borderline small. Plus the room behind the 3rd row is enormous compared to a van.

totally agree Jeff...
either my parents or my inlaws are gonna be over to enjoy playing and pampering their grandkids...and with they age up there, getting in and out of a SUV and trying to access the 3rd row is barely possible....my mom had issues getting into the Ford Flex and getting in the 3rd row...hence the only option I see is the minivan...
plus its only gonna be for a couple years...once the youngest is 3-4 years old, off they go to India to enjoy summer vacay...then we can just have a 5 seater SUV and call it a day...

Swoosh.. I fucking hate the new highlander, but the new gen has captain chairs for the 2nd row, giving you a passby in the middle to access the 3rd row. Something to consider as well if you want to buy an overpriced piece of shit.
