Anyhow, thanks for the comments boys...seriously, I appreciate it. I can deal with the biggest BS and f*ckers at work who I want to strangle...but, it all melts away when I see the little guy reach up for me to hold him when I get home.
Can't believe I'm gushing over a kid...this coming from a guy who did NOT want kids just 3 years ago.

Is the NJ shit tosser in there? I'm sure there's a stoned and terry thread. PCH, Billy, Odehghey, Moneyman (Altegris.. is his LFA thread in there?), NJdouche57, Italidildo.. what about Parasitius or Potroast, like potroast's rare comptech oil cap.
Oh there's that kid that flipped his TL going like 100 down a cliff into a pancake, what a douche, probably dead now. There is also a thread where this kid got carjacked.. that was when odehboy introduced himself.. not really HoF but it was quite a story.
Then there's Champ.. there was that whole bs sociology project thread. There's also the thread where he got robbed at gunpoint for an ipad CL deal gone wrong.
There are so many threads.. maybe not HoF worthy but worth a mention. There are also HoF posts.. too many.

So I'm having a bit of an ordeal...
I recently put my snow tires on, mounted on the stock 17" TL wheels. My car now feels like a rocket ship as compared to before and I'm thinking that I might have to ditch my current wheels in favor for something lighter.
My summer wheels/tires are:
Enkei GTC-01 18" x __. No idea what the width is, but I'm assuming either 8" or 8.5". In either case, they seem to weigh in at about 21.8-22.1 lbs each.
My summer tires are HEAVY as F***. Bridgestone Potenza RE-11As in 245/40/18 weigh 28lbs each. So in total, I'm somewhere in the range of 49.8-50.1lbs per wheel.
My winter wheels/tires are:
Stock 17" TL wheels - look to be 25.6lbs
Bridgeston Blizzak WS60 (235/45/17) - 25lbs.
That makes for a total of 50.6lbs.
Doesn't make sense!! My car is faster, way more nimble and is getting way better fuel economy, yet the wheel/tire weights are essentially the same, judging by the specs I find online. Even when installing the winters over the summers, I didnt notice much of a weight difference between them.
I dont know if I should keep my 18s, or if I should opt for the Type S wheels. Or, if I should just opt for a lighter tire on the 18s. Gah, it's so hard to make an informed decision without accurate information...

bruh.. lots to talk about here.
1.. what are your surface conditions?
deux.. those potenzas are shit unless they're hot. If your commute is short, you might not have experienced all that they offer.
C.. 245/40/18 and 235/45/17.. the 235's have more tire pad on the road.
F.. Although you don't think it's a big deal, ride height and axle angle has changed. I went from 17 to 18 and it's a lot more dramatic then one would think. Case in point.. I always scraped in a regular intersection I pass because it dips.. not anymore. And if you raise the axle angle, you're possibly dropping efficiency which works it's way out of the system through heat and vibration.
Penis.. The wheel diameter itself changes the performance. A larger diameter wheel might improve braking, but depending on the gearing, will require more work to rotate.

2. Believe me, I get my money's worth with those Potenzas, lol. Also, my commute is about 14 miles, or 22km, one way.
3. Wouldn't the 18s have more tire pad on the road? They're a wider tire after all.
4. I can't imagine the axle angle changing much at all. In the end, although my summer wheels are an inch bigger in diameter, the tires are approximately an inch smaller. I know it's off by a bit, but it's very close. And even so, the difference should be divided by two, as it's only the bottom half of the wheel that would change, making the difference even smaller. Plus it's not like I'm slammed or anything. A modest drop at best.
5. I don't necessarily agree with that. By the end, the wheel/tire diameters are only off by a couple %. Otherwise my speedo, along with anyone else who has after market wheels, would be way out to lunch. By the end of it, I think it boils down to weight. I can have a 20" wheel with rubber band tires, or a 17" wheel with more sidewall, but the overall wheel/tire diameter is supposed to be as close as possible to the original. A 20" wheel will weigh more, there by decreasing performance, however, if both the 17" and 20" wheels weigh the same (with the tire on), then the engine is still turning the same mass. Having the weight more out towards the outside will have an impact, and maybe that's my problem. Like I said, those RE-11As are heavy pigs, but man are they ever fun.

Duh.. I mean are you driving on ice. Aren't summer tires called ice skates over there? 22kms are plenty if it's dry. Throw in some wet or snow.. no go. Oops.. I even typed it right.. I thought the 235's were on the 18's. Like I said, might not seem like much but even a 1/4" makes a difference It's proven. You need to think about the incremental game.. there are tests out there showing that even an inch in wheel size makes a difference.

You said the tires and wheels are the same mass so what does it matter? If road conditions are ideal for those summer tires, then it's your wheel diameter. I don't have time to run the numbers but you're probably losing a small percentage with that 1 extra inch.

the actual tire compound has little to do with what I'm experiencing. I'm not having a traction problem. However, the car accelerates, brakes, handles way better now.
Back back back in the day, I had a '92 Civic Si hatchback which rode on stock 14" steelies with hubcaps. I upgraded to 15" Konig Heliums on Yokohama s.drives and I experienced exactly what I'm experiencing now, in terms of performance. Although the rim was bigger, it was lighter than the stock steelies and as such, the performance gain was notable when throwing the car in to turns and even straight line acceleration.
Honestly, I think it's my tires that are causing the issue. After going through countless tire/wheel combinations over the years, I've never had a situation like this come up. I think the tire weights posted by Bridgestone May not necessarily be accurate, as like I said, the REs are heavy pigs and Bridgestone claims there is only a 3lb difference between my tires which I find very hard to believe.
