The 3G Ramblings & General Discussion Thread (Part 2)
Was it growing out of your bro's butt?
Pipe diameter is too large for the amount of air that the stock power plant is pushing through. Scavenging isn't as strong as it would be.
Hopefully the 3.7 mani/tb/CAI can add enough air to really get the most out of this exhaust lol.

We've seen this a hundred times. Most of those OG members learned the hard way and spent thousands doing so.
The NA ~300 mark was only attained by one guy that I know of and it's all top end, you'll hardly be there long enough to make a difference anyways. Save your monies.
Was it Andy Gerzina?

Yes yummy and maj....my nipples were sore as the GF was happy to see me
Maj, the J series loves to breathe...let me dig up Sonnick's dynos...he made a lot of power going to J37 mani and TB also made some more by upgrading his AEM CAI for a 4" CAI...
EDIT: here it is:

Andy made 298whp but he didnt not have the J37 manifold back then....
he was fully bolted on with ported and polished manifold (J35)/runners/TB was ported and I think he was running a 3" intake back then....
Eh fuck it, what's another $2k. I'll get the mani, tb, and a 4" intake and get a tune and call it a day. Won't be for a while though, lot's of preventative maintenance coming up this summer. Mounts, brakes, and I have to drop my shit because I ain't about this 4x4 life.

for the mounts, look into Innovative mounts...I have their 60A and have had it for 80K miles...i dont abuse my car much (i dont launch it from a dig and dont try to do burnouts/other stupid shit), I let it rev to redline every now and then , and the mounts have been holding up very well....and they come with lifetime warranty...
I recently contacted them to ask for new bushings and since the design on them has changed, they told me to buy a new set and return the old one for a 100% refund...cant beat that....
now with that said, it brings in a lot of vibrations into the cabin...more so when you turn the AC on...I have gotten used to it, but I did have to explain my dates back then that "everything is fine and the car wont blow into bits"
brakes, I LOVE THE setup am running...if I had to do it again, i would do the exact same setup...I have powerslot slotted rotors (been on for 98K miles and they will see another 50-60K easy)....paired with HAWK HPS pads (they dust like a bish but stop on a dime)...the front I replaced after 45K miles and the rear after 80K (only because the caliper seized on me eating away the pads)....the fronts were replaced by HAWK HPS and have about 53K miles on it and I think I will have to replace them in the next 5-10K miles....the rear were replaced by Racing Brake ET500 and they have been good, I have only 18K on them so its still early to say how they have been....
I will be replacing the fronts with RB ET500 and lets see how they will be...

Just got a coupon from my local Honda dealer, $795 TB service including parts...sounds like a good deal to me. So far I've had them do some minor stuff to my TL...prices were very reasonable. The did an oil change and the tech put semi-synthetic in it. When I noticed and asked why they didn't use full syn the service advisor said "whoops!" I said I'm pretty sure the TL specs full syn, they drained and refilled for free, and gave me a coupon for the next oil change for free.

my dealer (back in STL) quoted me 1800 bucks....400 for labor and rest was all parts....i asked them what all they did for 105K service...
ended up doing the spark plugs and the filters myself...bought all the parts online for 350 and paid them 400 labor to do it...
I think in the end it was 800-ish but the peace of mind was incredible...
I think the ONLY thread I have seen Matt (I hate cars) make asking for help was the TB service...I know that kinda service is out of my league...

Gary, my car is gutted out...700lbs lighter than stock....so yes because racecar
the only thing is I dont track it coz until it was and still is my DD....I hate driving the wifeys LEX, too comfy...am actually debating of putting the rear seats back in and still using mine as the DD as compared to hers...
but I need more power and am debating throwing a turbo on it

Yeah, I thought it was a great price too. Out of my league too...I only have 74K on my car so I won't be ready for nearly 3 years.

its 105K miles OR 7 years which ever comes first ...unless its a 2008, its time for the service
with the turbo, I know Bert was putting down 400whp reliabily and then pushed it to 500+whp....I dont want to be anywhere close to that, I would be aiming for a nice 360-370whp range, running moderate boost on a small turbo....aiming for a flat torque curve/linear power band...

Get the hell out of here with that..
The 3G Type-S has very low intake restriction.
Go bigger.. gain 15 TQ up top, lose 15 TQ down low.
I was actually told about it from my co-worker, it was on Groupon and I want to say it was $380. Normally $600.

its like comparing water flowing from a 2" tube and a 4" tube....of course the 4 can flow MORE water...the intake velocity still remains high because the bottleneck is the TB and not the intake...
hence a lot of peeps are going with Dual TB setups and still gaining a LOTT since its passing more air, keeps the velocity high....

Also.. $800.. does it include auto tensioner, idler pulley, adjuster, water pump, thermostat, both belts and spark plugs? What about valve adjustment?
