Only you can determine if it is a good price. Check nada.com and kbb.com for price range. That is good mileage for an 08. Get an independent mechanic's inspection, it'll cost you a $100 or so. The TLs are great cars and will last a long time if taken care of.

this car is pretty hard to make power and to actually feel it.
going catless is one of the best money to power ratio mods.
it's about 15-20 hp all around, all though 3rd gear and 4th gear is where you'll feel the pull.

despite what you hear, you will not lose torque. it's just because of vtec and the way our car delivers the power

Yeah that's what I keep reading in the performance section. I would do HFPCs if anything to avoid the rasp and smell of PCDs, but I'm not sure if the $600 can be justified for the minimal power gains

I mentioned that they are the best $ to power ratio.
there are other mods for this car that cost A LOT MORE for A LOT LESS GAINS.
HFPC's are worth it only if you are wanting to go down this path.
Ive stopped modding my car with performance because its simply not worth it any more to me.
these are my mods:
ported and polished intake manifold and its runners, bored throttle body, PCD, Jpipe and true dual exhaust.
all of that must have been a bit over $3k and I still cant beat a v6 camry.

Justin, I've reached the same conclusion, man.
Honestly, even with the S2000...previous owner bought a turbo one but lost the reliability of being able to drive it every day. I love how it drives, so I'm not in a rush to get anywhere in particular Just enjoy it for what it is.

if I'd have learned that lesson 5 years ago...I'd have enough money to buy another car cash right now...maybe even a used V6 Camry

Lol PnP mani/runners, bored TB. That's tickling serious performance modding area I think. If you keep going down that path into head work/engine building it definitely becomes not worth the $ for what you get. I am of the opinion that since I love my car so much, it should be at least a little faster than the old lady who bought the same one not knowing what she has. I'm going to bolt everything up and call it a day. It's the personal touch that makes me happy, not the extra power.

It's very temping though, lurking the performance threads, to just start ordering parts and get to work lol.

i can tell you, vlad...the IM and runners was the easiest swap ever to do...
but it did not increase power like the threads lead you to believe.

my friend just bought some ones re-machined heads...higher compression and the heads flow better.
but he hasnt installed it, yet.
yes, he'll finally be quicker than me, but not by much.

I'm just gonna save all my pennies up for something faster and/or with more performance mod potential when I grow up

I'll keep the TL as my daily until the wheels fall off

Justin was the one that honestly saved me from buying some 3.5 manifold...in the end, I knew he was right.

Take Andy Gerzina for example...all motor...ported, cam'd...bored then he got bored...nitrous...bored...now custom dual throttle body and working with rotrex humongous supercharger....

I hope I'm not misspeaking, but I have a feeling I'm right.

To me, go buy a 5.0 Mustang, get I/RH/E and tune and some sticky rears and call it a day if blowing the doors off people is what you're after.

unless forced induction in a FWD vehicle is your game, i'd keep the TL fairly modded and just get something better when I grow up.

I guess I'm just not as experienced as y'all when it comes to serious engine work. Actually, I have no experience at all. I know how easy it is to swap an IM because I've taken mine off before, but removing metal from it seems serious to me because you can't Ctrl+Z that shit.

I'm with you Franz, except my wheels won't fall off.

Majofo is right, I think wrong. But philosophy Vlad says people like Andy don't do it for the outputs, they do it because it's so much fun for them.

I feel the same way when I'm engineering shit lol.

Lol I knew that, dude! But now I picture you with a dremel, some safety glasses, and an apron that says "Kiss the Crab" porting your own runners.

Haha well it's like everyone around here says: if you bought the TL for speed, you got the wrong car. Considering how much money is involved in performance mods around here, I'll only dish it out if I know what I'm getting. Like the custom RV6 exhaust: I literally don't think there is a better exhaust for the TL (except PCDs, I just don't want the rasp/smell or extra resonators). I was going to do the 3.7 mani too, but now I see that others are having some issues so I'll wait until that's sorted to spend any cash.

not really, man...fine, maybe not TC...but my AHA moment was when some dumb c word in a new pathfinder cut me off, and I struggled to catch up to her to give her the big fat middle finger...I was like, who the hell am I kidding.

thanks Vlad!
you're on the right path..and tbh...I bought the RV6 to eliminate rasp and sound/look nice more so than to go vroom vroom. Ask Austin, he recently heard it for a long period of time...I have high flow cats, V3 jpipe...and RV6 TD

TL is a fun car with a little pep. It's good enough to get you through traffic and ahead when you need to. If you bought it to race, kick yourself in the balls.
