Yum...what is the point of the Java security settings? I understand the windows or MacAfee or Norton security but I don't understand Java. My wife was unable to link to her work server because the Java settings were set to max...moved them to medium and she could get in.

Now, to your specific question (try my best to answer): Antiviral applications such as McAfee/Norton scan your operating system (i.e. Windows 7, XP, etc.) routinely and actively (known as real-time) to look for malicious programs that may be infecting your computer.
Java security was implemented to mitigate vulnerabilities the Java-platform has been known to have. Malicious programs can also attack your computer via Java's vulnerabilities. One way is the security level you're describing. By setting it at high, you are essentially telling your computer to not allow any applets and Java-based programs to run; period. By setting it to medium, you're given the ability to decide if you want to run an applet (a type of Java-based program).
Antiviruses cannot control program-based security levels.
I tried to water that down after a loco day at work as best possible. Hope my babbling makes some sense.

in short, Java security (depending on the level set) wont let programs branch/access info/websites...
for example, if you have work VPN on a personal laptop, when the VPN client tries to connect to work network and negotiate security policies, at times it wont connect since it clashes with the Java settings....

Justin, you can obviously charge what you want:
but I think you're being an undercover dbag if you tell someone you're paying it forward and don't worry about it and then give them your paypal and secretly hope they DO pay you.
I still think 200 for pad change is gouging...comparatively shopping after getting a quote for 700 from the dealer, I'm sure they were happy. But that's a lot for very little work.

the first job i did this weekend, i charged my acquaintance $100.
he felt that was too low and gave me $160.
the 2nd job, the acurazine member came to me and asked to learn.
I was not expecting to get paid.
I was surprised when he stated "how much would you like?"
and after being humble, he insisted i send him my paypal addy. which i did.
i'm surprised that you, rockstar, after meeting me, think i'm purposely trying to screw ppl.
the job has to be worth my time.
just like the other day, you mentioned you pass on oil jobs. why? because its not worth your time.

I never said you were screwing people...
Hey, whatever, they saved money, you made money. Everyone is happy!
I agree, it DOES have to be worth your time to get your hands dirty, but for someone that tries to live that bohemian lifestyle and relies on the kindness of others I was surprised you charged that much to do the pads. That's all.

after my friend gave me $160 and specifically said; "I feel 100 is too little"
i feel that $160-200 is the sweet spot.
Obviously, it's a skill or something I know how to do, that most people dont and therefore can charge an arm and a leg.
and not every job will be easy, just sayin.

Justin, yeah I'M reading too much into it...you wrote two full essays including additional supporting edits. I think somebody with claws for hands has a case of the guilty conscience.

When someone likes to have the last word constantly and is condescending and pretentious, count on it.
So if you want to start acting like a chad, you're going to get treated like one.
