On a worse note, you jerks finally inspired me to start modding my own TL. I have held out over a year, and I'm still trying to fight it for warranty reasons, but the bug has hit- hard. 2 other ppl on my block just got TLs, and people looking to buy the house for sale next to me had one as well. Yet, my hubs is the only sexy looking one. I'm now tired of being plain LOL
It is plastidip Blaze Pink with white plastidip base coat. It is really bright in person and VERY VERY Pink!!!

Thanks, the shop do not do these justice but too windy to open the doors.
Will have better pics and installed on my next days off since I need at least 24 hours cure time or Aaron will get mad.

Ah, pink. That is the color scheme I am thinking of since my thought of mods. Pink & AM? It's prob going to be just basic cosmetics, I don't want to compromise the safety of the car since I'm usually the one driving the kids around all day every day.

Does anyone else's TL have self-closing doors? Whenever I open my car door, it closes again on it's own. Anyone know how to fix that?

Rockstar, when you started this thread about spacers, I assume that the ones you worked with were the Type 1s, right?

good news
the accord door checkers did eliminate the self closing feature on the tl. i did the driver side door this weekend and took me about 20 mins to swap out the door checkers. the door still feels a little "light" but it has more of a drag which causes the door to no longer self swing back.
great mod for those who are tired of the "automatic closing doors"
i plan on doing the passenger side this coming weekend.

stock tl "groved door checker"

accord "flat" door checker

compared side by side

accord door checker installed

Thanks Justin. What's involved with replacing this, and where did you get the parts from the Accord? What year Accord?

Gatr, you sure you're not parked on an incline? There are certain points you open the door too before they reach their stop point where the door will want to bounce back, but no, not self closing doors.

Yes sir, I have a combination of v1 and v2 spacers to be able to rotate, I swapped all studs to be safe.

Wow, posted too late, cool Justin...I've never thought that I hate the door checker, can't you just take a dremel or angle grinder and grind down the high points on those hills on the slide?

nah you need a certain thickness for it to work at all. you need to have it at its thickest point all the way down the shaft (yea i know, thats what he said)

No. I swing open the door, and within three seconds it comes back on me. It's annoying as shit, and I want it to stop. The rear doors are not like that.

I think I might just find some V2 spacers for the car so I don't have to do what you did.

You just now finding out about the TL door game of "can you get out of your car before the door closes itself"

Yes you can install door stoppers from an 03?? Accord.
Not sure which year but you can replace the door stopper things from an accord. They are pretty cheap and very easily replaced.

Edit: gonna leave this here for proof that I don't read anything past the post I am going to respond to.

Yeah. I thought it was a problem with the door, not a feature. I have time myself in trying to get out before the door closes.

Not sure I entirely like this feature.

Yeah part number is better than model year. Those things are easy to replace and known to wear out quickly on the 98-02 accords.

Not sure why the TL came the way they did? Easier to close the doors?

And I really hate when people slam my doors. I tell them, do that again and you can walk the f home.

It's the worst when I'm driving my wife's Civic (without the carpet on the decklid) and she slams the trunk shut. She slams that bitch so hard my sperm vibrate against my nuts.

with the dynamat and trunk spoiler, mine was so heavy I'm pretty sure it would actually flip my car over once if it was slammed...

Betty and I were drinking and pushing my car back into the garage...totally forgot about the trunk and bam, that baby came down on her head. Taught her a valuable yet unintentional lesson.

I wouldn't mess with the doors. I've been driving it long enough to know where the "stop" points are and I actually use them to keep the door from easily ever flying open into a car next to me or the garage wall. I'd miss them...

Same here. Most of the time, I can swing the door open, jump out and by the time I'm clear the door shuts itself without me touching it again.

My celica did the same thing but that was a heavy heavy door. So when I got the TL I was already up on my technique.

Until today, I have never even thought twice about the car having a difficult door to figure out. I always open it to it's first stop point...

riveting banter, really.

Just got back from a week in the Virgin Islands.

I really missed my car but if you ever think about going there I wouldnt recommend it. It was really dirty and the people are rude.

edit: its also fun to drive on the other side of the roads there. All the cars are either shit (because everyone hits and runs or doesnt care) or there are a bunch of TSX and TL with wheels all over the island (pretty cool to see so many but most had dmg to it)
