I have a few FB whores that I don't want to defriend for "political" reasons (read husbands). One friend posts constantly about her job that I could care less about. The way to do it is move the cursor to the right of the person's name in their post. A down arrow pops up. Click "hide". Then click on the hidden post preferences for that friend and you can select which posts to get (photos, comments, likes etc) and more importantly, which ones to not get. You can also "unsubscribe" to not see anything they post, yet not unfriend them. I've found it to be a rather handy filter!
