Naw....I love the little kiddo's! Even some of the teenagers were nice, for a change.
There was one tiny little girl that came to the door. Our Golden Retriever went with me each time to the door to pass out candy. Well, this little girl was scared of Ginger (the Golden Retriever) and walked away VERY quickly....

Teaching the dog to get the paper.. that my friend, is awesome. If Ginger will get a paper, he/she could learn to get a beer

Thanks dude-Ginger is terrific. She's 12 years old, but you'd never know it.
By the way, I don't think that shoes are "personal" enough. Maybe some perfume would be a more "connected" gift for her birthday. You've got to be careful-people with birthdays around major holidays always get short-ended on one of the two events. If you care about her, give her well thought out gifts for both. They don't have to be expensive, just something on both holidays that show you put thought and effort into them.
^ true words.
She is one of the independent type (which isn't a bad thing) and normally gets what she wants/needs. So it can be hard to buy for someone who already has everything..

Next to a diamond, shoes are a girls best friend. DONT FORGET THAT.
P.s. its not limited to tennis shoes. theres like boots, heelz, and everything in between.

Car buying/help should be reserved for her or her parents or if you want to marry this girl.
Save your monies
But then again, YOLO!
