I did, and I’m actually at the dealer waiting for it now. When we got here, they told me again that it was not necessary for an RDX (about which, if you’re going to argue, maybe do it over the phone, rather than after my 20-minute drive), but in any case, they are doing it. I’m 9n a lease and don’t want to end up having to buy new tires due to a repair on a less than one-month old car.

yeah, its kind of strange, they did alignment on mine both times. Did you get any info why parts are failing and if you getting updated part, or same part?

Interesting to see this is happening to others. My 2019 aspec makes the same popping sound as others have described it when coming off the driveway. Happens randomly to either side.

I too have recorded the noise several times, as I have over 15 recordings. I do have an agent from Texas Lemon Law woking my case. Next steps are arbitration with American Acura / Honda. This could take several months, plus no guarantees.

2020 Acura RDX Advance Trim- Control Arm Issue

I started to hear "suspension/creaking" from the front end within 2 months of ownership when traveling through intersections (dip in road) or over speed bumps at low speeds. Vehicle is currently in the shop getting new control arms and new undercarriage shield - apparently the shield was bent from the manufacturer. Agree with prior comments - vehicle started to sound like an old truck, rather than a 2 month old Acura. Very disappointing but optimistic this will solve the issue. Acura should issue a recall.

I was told parts got revised by service advisor, but they were revised 6 month ago, you would think new parts should already be in 2020?

I posted a message earlier today, but I am currently having the same exact issue as you. I have a 2020 RDX Advanced Package and within 2 months the front end sounded like a truck going over speed bumps or dips in the road. The vehicle is currently getting new control arms installed. From what I read from other owners, this has solved the issue. My dealer is great so I'm optimistic this will remedy the problem.

I had 2020 rdx loaner with less than 800 miles making same noise over bumps. They all have defective parts?!

Has anyone confirmed that control arms solve this issue? I'm going to head into the dealer soon because of this issue and want to be armed with as much as I can to help them solve it.

We do not believe the issue can be corrected with new control arms based on our experience. We had new control arms put on beginning of 2019, and in December 2019, had the "updated" control arms installed because the issue had persisted. It did not work. Going back to the service center next week. Each time they were replaced, we did go a brief time of actual riding in silence and not having it sound like a clunker. We are one of the lucky ones that not only deal with this, but the brake squeal (Attempted fix twice early 2019 and after the TSB and problem still existing, replaced brakes on front, going back to have rear brakes done next week because they still squeal). Plus, we have dealt with the "limp" mode issue AND the car not shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. It's been a great time owning this vehicle...NOT. Bums me out because we have always loved Acuras and had great experiences. Now all we get is "waiting for an update". Owned since October 2018.

It works for me on 2020 after they replaced them one month ago. Its concerning if they keep going bad very soon.

I hope you don't have a reoccurrence. Our RDX is a early made 2019 (September 2018). I'm not sure if it has something to do with that, hopefully with you having a newer model will make the difference. Acura was aware of the issue and this new type of control arm had just been made for this purpose. Installed December 2nd. Suspension noise is the worst I have experienced in this last week with our colder temperatures, leading us to believe this has nothing to do with the control arms since is our second set.

Maybe you have bad struts? They updated parts at least once (part numbers changed), but I dont know if they kept chAnging them without updating part numbers?

I had seen some comment on a G3 Facebook group that someone had struts replaced and that didn't fix it, but some type of bolt was mentioned that fixed it. Not sure if it is a strut bolt or lower control arm bolt or what. I'm going in next week to see how it goes. I'll report back.

Ok, I couldn't stand the sound anymore. It had gotten to the point where it did it all the time. Even in warmish weather and warmed up car. I took it in to the dealer and they did the same treatment as others: Replaced the lower control arms on both sides. They did install the A04 part, and the sound is definitely gone. So that's a good start. Only time will tell though. I'll report back in a few hundred miles or so. Fingers crossed.

So I had the control arms replaced twice (I think I had mentioned this in a previous post). My car is currently getting the rear brakes replaced and they just told me that they could hear the noise and they will be replacing the left front strut. Will update if that corrects the problem.

Did they use updated control arm parts both times?

2019 RDX Tech Package

Same problem on my vehicle and it is at the dealer today. Disappointing that there does not see to be a fix for this. Had a similar problem on my R and upper strut bushings had to be replaced. I guess I need to have the dealer start with new control arms first.

Can you provide more details on what parts the dealer installed. New updated control arms?

My 2020 RDX with 400 miles is currently at the dealership having both control arms replaced. Owned two Nissans for a combined 500,000 miles, never replaced control arms, nor did they need replacement. RDX is a total joke and not luxury.

common, Nissan sucks The last good car they made was Nissan Maxima in late 90s, Infinity G37 was pretty good too before they added "Q" to it.

I disagree that its common - at least at 400 miles. I could see a couple years down the line and 25,000 miles but 400 miles is just stupid. 98 maxima was a great car! Still own an 08' Versa beater with 200,000 miles - all thats ever been done are oil changes, struts, brakes, tires and a muffler. Also own a 2017 370z Nismo that is badass and bulletproof, only complaint is an outdated interior.

Forgot to ask. Was advised by dealer that the control arm replacement will not require an alignment. In my view anytime suspension components are touched an alignment is customary. Thoughts?

Alignment was performed for most people who had their lower arms replaced. They are trying to cut conners, demand alignment.

You better find another dealer, it looks like you had some issues with them not doing their job before, this is just another shortcoming. Alignment is needed after lower arm replacement

I will call first thing and demand the alignment. The dealership/service has actually been very friendly and accommodating. The only issue so far was the body plugs were not installed at time of delivery. I have a bone to pick with Acura corporate, not the dealership.

body plugs need to be installed by your dealer when they perform TQI.

for most people updated lower arms take care of the issue. RDX is a great car, couple visits to the dealer to take care of the minor problems is not the end of the world. You can take care of squeaking lower arms at any time, it’s not a safety issue

I really hope so, I want to love this car I really do. Could I have went Mercedes, Audi etc..sure but the features just are not there for the same price.

On your vehicle how many body plugs do you have installed. I have 6 installed right now 3 on each side. Just curious as the TQI shows either 2-4 spots to install but there are 6-7 holes depending if you have a spare tire

I only have plugs that are shown in TQI, we think that others should be left open by design

So do you have 2 or 4? It seems in the TQI photo there are two that have arrows pointing but if you look close towards the front of the vehicle there are two more bold black circles indicating maybe two more plugs should be installed there. Circled them in red.

Our dealer called me and confirmed that it is because of the lower control arm. Thank you, Acurazine users!

We noticed front end "suspension travel noise" going over speed bumps at approx. 7 miles per hour. The dealer replaced faulty (noisy) left front strut - the noise has not changed. The dealer stated that this noise is normal for this vehicle. The noise is similar to the noise an older car would make, sounds like a good lubrication is needed, however the dealer has performed lubrication as well.

We don't believe this is a normal sound this vehicle should make.
Please let me know if your RDX makes any suspension travel noises over speed bumps.

Thank You
My 2020 ASPEC SHAWD is making the same noise. 4K miles, never hit any potholes or rough terrain. Plan on bringing this up to Acura dealer next week I hope they can fix it. It definitely should NOT be making this noise. Not normal.

I'm taking mine in next week for this same thing... plus a leak by the map light housing during the last hard overnight rain.

Great info here, and I'm hearing travel noise in my '19 RDX as well.

Question: Which control arms is everyone having replaced? I hear the noise in my front left the most, but also back right. Thanks!

I honestly hear it from every corner. Bringing mine in today I’ll update with what service department says.

Did anyone have re-occurrence of the problem after lower control arms were replaced with updated parts?
