2019 RDX Suspension Travel Noise - Front Left
They said once they adjusted the hatch on the loaner car it fixed the pop noise. However, adjusting the hatch didn't solve the popping sound on my car. I still think its a spot weld from the upper left pillar in the back.
Vehicle: 2019 Acura RDX SH-AWD with Technology Package
Miles: Approx. 1000
We noticed front end "suspension travel noise" going over speed bumps at approx. 7 miles per hour. The dealer replaced faulty (noisy) left front strut - the noise has not changed. The dealer stated that this noise is normal for this vehicle. The noise is similar to the noise an older car would make, sounds like a good lubrication is needed, however the dealer has performed lubrication as well.
We don't believe this is a normal sound this vehicle should make.
Please let me know if your RDX makes any suspension travel noises over speed bumps.
Thank You

Poppong noise from left rear
Ive been having the exact "popping" noise which I described as a "clunk" or "pop" to my Acura dealer, under the same circumstances on my 2019 RDX Tech. I told them it sounds to be possibly coming from the left rear strut. They took it on a test drive and thought it might me coming from a loose screw on the rear license plate, so they tightened that.🤣. I knew that wasn't it and the noise continues.

..
Bought my ASpec RDX in March just noticed my suspension making noises with the cold weather coming. Going to wait until 1 yr warranty is closer as noise is not to bothersome yet. This is my 3rd RDX and by far it it iS the best one yet
So my 2019 RDX Advanced makes a loud POP noise also when pulling out of the driveway, it is very loud and usually only happens once intermittently. Dealear says can't reproduce and nothing wrong. I can hear the noise clearly about 50% of the time when pulling out of the driveway or sometimes when driving over railroad tracks but that's it. Anyone got that fixed successfully?
thx

simply annoying....
Acura knows about it is simply unacceptable to me anyway, I will record the noise and will escalate this as high as I can, this is not normal behavior of 50K car, we know about it but can't replicate is not good enough but my dealership hasn't said that yet. Please post if you get it resolved and I will do likewise.
Please update, if you get further than I did, as far as what can be done to fix it, or other options that are available. I still think its a spot weld issue. I too have recorded the noise several times, as I have over 15 recordings. I do have an agent from Texas Lemon Law woking my case. Next steps are arbitration with American Acura / Honda. This could take several months, plus no guarantees.
For those that got their struts or control arms changed... how is the road travel noise now? I brought mine to the dealership with the same noise complaints, only to have them "lube" up the front struts. Told the tech that it ain't going to fix it, so we'll wait and see. So far, been to the dealership far too many times for a brand new car.
My car was made on 10/19, so you would think that old part was already 51360-TJB-A04 (updated)? To add to confusion, parts cross reference lists 51360-TJB-A04 for 2020 RDX, and 51360-TJB-A03 2019 on oemacuraparts.com and others. why?

2019 Acura RDX aspec
My car is doing the same thing but it’s all over front and back so far they have replace strut and control arm and still nothing as type this I’m in the dealer again with corporate looking at the car
seems to be getting worse in cold, it’s also may not be easy to reproduce. It needs to be reproducible for dealer to do anything, so annoying.
I first heard it in the front driver side, it was pretty obvious, so they replaced lower arm. No I hear something similar in the passenger side, but it’s very faint and I am not sure they will do anything.

Could hear it on a speed bump, made appt with the dealer. Its sounds like rusty strut movement, if my dealership does not have speed bump, how the heck can they reproduce it. What if they tell me its normal for this suspension? I dont think its normal
Find a speed bump close by the dealership and take the tech with you to replicate the noise... that is what I did. It is the Lower Control Arms.. Make sure they do a 4wheel alignment under warranty too. The repair will throw the alignment off.
This is a common issue and It is not normal..mine started making the suspension travel noise 14 months after I bought my RDX. After the Lower Control Arms were replaced 2weeks ago the vehicle sounds like it did when new.
yeah, I had driver side lower arm replaced already, but not the passenger, so I think it’s going too.
Keep your appointment and take it in. Tell them about your many many friends on Acurzine With the same noise and that the fix has been replacing the lower control arms & a wheel alignment. The day I took my RDX in the front suspension wasn’t creaking but did on the way home, so I went back to the dealership and asked to take the technician with me to verify the noise. I told him what I thought the fix was (Based on the info on Acurazine) and they ordered the parts right then and there..

I noticed the sound mostly on speed bumps in cold weather, and haven't had a chance to try it under those conditions yet, but driving around this afternoon, I didn't hear anything.
How would I know if the alignment is off?
They did alignment on mine. If you have bad alignement the car will not go perfectly straight and will tend to go left or right.
They updated parts for arms, I am surprised that 2020s have old parts or its new parts going bad already?

What I want to understand is this:
new parts were updated around March 2019, my 2020 car was built in September 2020, I would expect it to have updated parts? If yes, why are they still failing. They gave me 2020 RDX loaner with 1000 miles, and it makes the same noise.

I just picked up my car today -- they replaced both lower arms. I think first they tried to do something with the original arms, but that didn't work and they ended up replacing it. I asked about alignment twice, and they said that the arms are simply bolted in and didn't require re-alignment, so they wouldn't do it.

Picked up my car, so far so good. I am hoping that my 2020 got updated parts, otherwise it would mean that updated parts are also failing.
the scary part, I had 2020 loaner with 1k miles making horrible suspension noises, much worse than what I had. Is it a part issue, or install issue at factory?
