Map Update is "live"
Map Update is "live"
I went to see if there was a map update and there was. The Here site downloaded an app on to my Mac and then when I clicked "download" it is supposed to put the map on the USB stick. Haven't figured out if it worked.
Anybody else have any experience? Maybe a Windows machine?

Windows. The first effort failed. I then reformatted the usb, reinstalled the downloader and it is downloading now.
I only got to 1% on the first try. Now it is is at 15%.

So, Map updates are not Over-the-air? This Acura Owners site has updates, including Maps. Gonna download the updates now!
If past experience with Honda/Acura USB stuff applies, "clean" means "freshly formatted". Not just files deleted and trash emptied, but freshly formatted with a brand spanking new directory structure. Or fresh out of the box.
I don't know offhand, and I installed it during a small window before they pulled it, and it kept giving me a 'map out of date' error.

BTW, my map version is 2018.10.18, after I was "lucky" enough to install two previous short-lived updates.

If anyone has figured out a way to fix this problem, please post how you did it.
I am shocked by the apparent unreliability. Shocked.
OTOH every dog has his day...
BTW, I'm on a Mac with the current OS ( 10.15.1 ), using Safari. Maybe I'll try FireFox just for grins. < edit > Nope.

I was able to install it, but, obviously, have not done anything with it.
But it did install. I wrote the new date down, but I must have messed up the date since what I wrote was 2019.08.08, but that seems wrong. Will check it tomorrow.

I entered VIN and map version (2018.02.16) and it allowed me to download maps - about 15GB of it. At the end it provided installation instructions, but IT DOES NOT WORK. My drive was just formatted/erased FAT32. Car can see it, but says it cannot play music - "No Data". They said plugging the drive would start installation in all modes. I tried and waited long time - nothing happens. There is "HereMapsV1" directory on the drive and all maps are in subdirectories below - perhaps they should be in the root directory? Have you encountered something similar?
Why do you need a map update? If you have Nav configured to use connected features the manual says it connects to the server to use the most up to date driving info. Doesn’t that include updated map info?

Maybe it is downloading? Go to the home screen. Then start Nav. See it you get a banner about map updating. Make sure the car is fully booted before you hook up the stick, and use the USB in the cupholder area, that is the only one that connects to the system. The others are for charging only.
Windows machine with about 100M speed.

I had downloaded and installed the update last fall with no problem (other than the constant “map out of date” error I now get), but last night I also got the "We are unable to find the VIN provided. Please check the VIN and try again or contact us." So just for fun, I also tried to see current service offers on the Acura client web site, and when I enter my VIN there, it says "Not a valid ACURA VIN. The VIN entered was not found. Please check your VIN, and click the Re-Enter VIN button below to try again." I opened a ticket with Acura.
Yeah, from the dowload site: Maps purchased and downloaded will only work in the selected vehicle and are exclusive to the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) entered.

No charge. That sentence is just copied from the website.
