Map Update is "live"
Just curious if anyone has had any success getting their VIN into the database through Acura or HERE?
Thanks rdxguyen for posting PC guide. I have a Mac, but also have Parallels, so I hope I can get there.....but for that unavailable VIN!!!
Thanks billyt1963 for finding this to begin with. I am still surprised Acura doesn't send out an email, or HERE, or someone, to tell people this is available. If it wasn't for Acurazine I wouldn't even know....but that's true of a lot of stuff on this car I guess.

Tech info needed for strong end user but not highly technical
I pick up my new RDX tomorrow (Friday) and I’ll have the dealer make sure the map software is up to date. Nevertheless, I have a technical question for when I need to update the mapping software on my own.
I have a SANDISK 128GB ULTRA DUAL DRIV USB drive that I use for my MBP and my 12.9” iPad Pro. I am running the latest versions of Catalina and iPad OS. As Mac users will know, Apple updated the Mac OS to 64 FAT. The USB works great on both the MBP and the iPad. But given that the thread indicates that the RDX only works with 32 FAT in the USB slot, how do I know how my USB thumb drive is formatted (32 or 64)? And, if it is 64 FAT, how do I reformat my thumb drive to 32 FAT and back again to 64 FAT when I’m done with the update?
Technical help will be appreciated! :-)

As promised, I put together a quick step-by-step document (it's a pdf).
Thanks @billyt1963 for the map update heads up and this thread. Thanks everyone for the feedback, and inputs. This is an awesome community!
For those celebrating Thanksgiving (in the States or elsewhere), have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

It looks like default for 10.15 disk utility with a 32GB or less USB drive is FAT32 with a Master Boot Record ( MBR ) partition map, but it is a bit coy about it.
I tried a 64GB USB 3.0 USB drive, which was originally FAT32, but disk utility failed to format it with the "FAT" option, and succeeded with EXFAT.
Maybe buying a new cheap 32GB USB drive is the easiest solution. It will almost certainly come formatted as FAT32, MBR. But if you have one lying around somewhere, I think it can still be formatted appropriately with 10.15 disk utility.
Right now, I need to format a turkey, but maybe I'll play more after I'm stuffed.
Happy Thanksgiving!
By default Mac OS 10.15 uses MacOS_extended with a GUID partition table for internal drives, and I don't think FAT has anything to do with it.

I was thinking more like this basic USB A 2.0 drive. You might be at the mercy of the controller for that dual drive, but if you need the USB C connection for your computer, it may be worth a try. Dunno.
Has anyone established whether this infotainment system can take advantage of USB 3.0 or 3.1 speeds? ( Kinda doubt it... )

I have a 32GB 3.0 sitting in front of me, with nothing to load onto it.
I think there are two questions:
1) Will the car read the drive?
2) If not, will your computer and OS allow you to format the drive in such a way that the car will read it? This may be a problem for more recent drives and their controllers. Dunno.
Fortunately, these drives are dirt cheap now. Cheaper than a decent oil filter.

Funny thing is, that when I navigated to new address it displayed message "Your map is out of Date". So when my maps were old (original) car didn't complain, but now it has new maps but complains that they are old. Clumsiness of Acura software people is simply amusing.
The good news is now I can listen to music ( without skips ) and use Google Maps or Apple Maps in Apple CarPlay. So I'm a little less likely to go full George Costanza on the Interstate.
For that I am thankful...

Yeah, I was kinda hopeful that this map update would cure that "map out of date" bug in my current installation. Since it appears not, I'm not even all that distressed I can't get it to download. ( VIN issue )

The newest Map version is 2019.07.08, chances are the dealership has it updated already. You have the VIN by chance? Punch it in on the site (I had some quick instructions here), and see if it recognizes the VIN. Or just ask the dealership to check it out for you.
I expect it is not updated. Butnyou can press them to verify that the VIN is in the appropriate databases. Tell them you have become aware that some people couldn’t get updates because their VINs were not in Acura’s database or the map distributors database.
I did manage to get the map updated to 2019.07.08, but the elapsed time was about 5 hours with a few stumbles along the way and I did not even have a problem with the VIN being recognized. Most of the people here are fairly technical and will get through it once their VIN is in the database and they have the right flash drive formatted correctly. But there is a whole population of owners that would be like a deer in the headlights if they wanted to update their navigation maps. Dealers should hire a couple college or high school IT minded persons to do this work part time at the dealer. An owner makes the appointment, the dealer already has the VIN, they do the download to a flash drive ahead of time and when the owner arrives it will only take an hour to do the map update, This done at fairly minimum cost to the dealer and is free to the customer and written off as customer good will.. A happy customer is a good thing for a dealer.

I pick up the car in an hour. The dealership assured me: “I will definitely make sure that your software is up to date. As for Acuralink I will be setting that up for you and it should be working before you leave.”
So what was the resolution for you? The lady I spoke with is clueless. She tells me to call the dealer where I purchase the vehicle.
I just called the dealer service department (Schaller Acura, Manchester, CT) they have no clue. The lady told me they did the update last week. I corrected her They did not because I checked my Map version 2018.02.16 then told her I went in for soft brake TSB and squealing. Then she said dealer update my infotainment which I then said she was incorrect because I did the OTA myself. She then switch the subject back to map update and said I have to buy a DVD. What a waste of time!!!

FWIW I clicked on one of the HERE links posted on Acurazine and got the VIN error message. When I went through a different link from google I was able to download the update using my VIN. For those of you that are receiving the VIN error it might be worth it to try this link. I haven't read through the thread so I'm not sure if the correct link has been posted previously.
I called and spoke to Lauren directly and she said she cannot fix this problem and to call Acura. I called the number she have me and they say my VIN is in their database already. So sick of the run around. I don't know if you got a different Lauren but mine was no help at all.

Just an off the cuff comment:
It seems to me, that there has NOT been any official Acura or HERE (or what ever) notification that there is an update.... RIGHT?
AND reports of "map out of date" messages.....
I don't need the stress of trying to get an update, and getting associated error messages, as I am very happy now that we have AA and Google maps. I'll use that for the time being, and see where all this goes.
Thank you all who are trying ti update it and posting steps, and links, and details of your efforts.......etc.

The past two map updates were pulled within days after they appeared.
The major "benefit" of installing one of those attempts is the "maps out of date" message every time you calculate a route, and sadly that doesn't seem to have changed for this one. I kinda thought the D.1.2.1 infotainment system update might take care of that, maybe along with future map updates. Guess not.
Which is to say there may be value in waiting if your system isn't already messed up by a prior map update. Or even if it is.
