For the 2020 SHAWD & Tech, the dealer gets $5500 if customer finances with AFS. Slightly higher interest rate which you can refi after you buy the vehicle or pay it off shortly after opening the AFS account.
Good luck with your purchase.

With that $13K off sticker, is there money in there that you can only get if you finance the vehicle through Acura Financial and if so, how much?

They have 17 2022's on the lot.
They have 12 2020 AWD w/ Tech on the lot.
The one I am looking at is Gunmetal, if that makes a difference.
Yes, other dealers nearby. I have not heard back from most of them, and the ones I have heard back from aren't willing to negotiate much either.
I did get a selling price of $38,720 from a dealer in MD, but they don't want to tell me fees, etc ????? It is an interesting business practice for sure. And I am not sure if that price includes the $1500 loyalty (I am assuming it does)

I sent out requests from the website and all are quoting the standard $10k off (hence ~$42k) price over email. I did get a couple dealers give $39,900 up front. I wonder if going in and negotiating helps. Particularly at high volume, high inventory dealers. I think Tech and Base are abundant, other trims not so much.
I think out of state dealers do not give the fees probably because they do not know how to handle the tax, but you can see online what max fees each state allows to charge to get an idea roughly.

No, I did not purchase yet. When you factor in the $1500 rebate that they give at the end instead of off the selling price, I guess one could argue it technically makes the selling price $41,025. But like I said, they have been pretty clear they are not moving any more from the $11,500 discount.

I have not told the dealer one way or another if I was going to trade in. They asked, and I said I was not sure at this point.
Are you saying if I told them I was trading something in, they might be more willing to negotiate on the selling price (of course, they would just offer me less for the trade to make up the difference).
Now have a third quote
Purchase Price**: $43,281
Tax: $2629.26
Doc: $394
License: $148
Rebate: $1500
Total: $45,492.26

in any of the quotes have you made an offer yet? I have not just getting quotes at this point. My worst is 43000 and best is 39000 with standard financing.

No, I have not made any official offers.
I made reference to the $38,720 price, at which point I was told by one dealer that they are not negotiating beyond the $10,000 + $1,500 (this was the first dealer who has the current lowest price).
I guess this could count as an offer, but I told another dealer my target was $39,000, they said that is the price of a base model (dealer with the next lowest price). They did not make a counter offer on the Tech.
The 3rd dealer I have not replied at all (the most expensive).

Wanted to share my deal that I closed on 3/7. Been using this forum and others to gauge my negotiating price.
Purchased a 2020 mdx awd tech at $42,500 OTD. Couldn’t get any lower so work out some all season floor mats inclusive to the price. This deal was done in NoVa.

so this amount means offer price was before TTL was under 40k. Did you qualify for loyalty, and did you have to take standard financing to get that in lieu of 0.9%?
#260
The sell price was under 40k as I was trying to aim for 25% discount off MSRP. I think I came out at like 24.2% discount which wasn’t to bad. I did qualify for the loyalty and to qualify for the $5500 incentive from Acura to dealer it has to be standard financing. I did 72 months which I was good for 3.34%. If I did the extended warranty it would go down another .5% but I did not take the extended warranty.

I was not offered the 60 months and I didn’t even ask. My plan was to pay off early so the term didn’t matter to much to me. Just had to verify on paperwork there was no penalty for paying off early and was a simple interest loan.

What is the tax rate in VA? Dealer fees?
#265
I checked back and my best initial quote before TTL is 38.7k

Ended up buying at $43.3k OTD. 6% sales tax. Good enough for me. I don't have time to deal with this nonsense back and forth with multiple dealers lol.
Could have been around $42.7 OTD with a 6 hour round trip drive but opted to stay local. Thanks for all the input Integra2Pilot

Congrats on your purchase. Its always a tradeoff between how much time and aggravation you want to go through to make the purchase. Do you think if you dug in your heels in a big way and if it was the end of the month, you could have gotten the price down another $1,000? Some of the dealers where I am have 35 - 60 of the configurations I want. Keep hearing about the chip shortage but between the 2020 and 2022, the big dealers have nearly 200 units in stock.

Purchased last night for dad. 2020 MDX FWD Base MSRP $45925 + $2k in dealer adds (BS).
$1500 conquest
$5500 financing
$1000 flex cash (basically a non advertised incentive that can be applied to any deal to close it)
$5475 dealer discount from factory MSRP.
(13,475 total discount including incentives).
$32450 net sales price (29.34% off msrp. I was targetting 35%, and then 33%, and then 30%. He let me walk twice and no dealer in the state wanted to touch the deal by even matching it.
$2029 taxes (6.25%)
$421 doc fee, licensing, road bridge inspection etc etc fees
$34,900.00 Out the door. Cashiers check for $24900 and financed $10000 at 2.99%. When statement comes in, im paying it off and being done with it. I did have 3 other dealers at $35,000 Out the door.
This deal was a $3200 Front Gross true loser. I might go back last day of the month and try for another at $33000 or $34000 out the door for myself.

What did you mean by this? Are you saying that they are selling for a loss?
I have had other dealers not even want to touch this deal. I have most willing to play ball by showing a written quote. Do anyone actually give written quotes anymore?

Yes base. I had to show written offer at $35 OTD. Their pants fell off when I pulled that card out of my back pocket. I’m surprised the dummy dealer actually gave it in writing to me. That’s your biggest leverage. Period.
#274
I’m going back to get another for $34K OTD and sitting at that number. On my car deals I have to get the best in the country. Period. I don’t care even if it’s $10. I’m like Mercedes ....the best or nothing. Literally if my deal isn’t better than 99% of the rest then I don’t want it.
