2020 MDX Prices Paid

2020 MDX AWD Tech
I've been quoted by 2 dealers -
Dealer #1:
Sticker: $52,525
Price: $49,125
- $5,500 finance discount, -$1,500 loyalty.
Net: $42,125
Dealer #2; $50,000
Same discounts.
I expected to see net prices < $39k based upon some of the comments here. Is this price range possible, or are these offers in the ballpark?

A good deal for MDX Advance is $47K (includes all destination, dealer, incentives, discounts, title and registration) + local sales tax where the car will be registered. Anything more could potentially mean an overpayment.
That said, not many Advance trim cars left on the lots. These were the most discounted and cleared first.

Now, the Bases and Techs ....... yes, big discounts. 20% plus off MSRP should be expected.

How long ago did you make that deal? The large dealers near me have 200+ MDX's on their lots and the 2nd tier deals are averaging around 100. The 2022 MDX will show up on lots first week of Feb. Thinking dealers may be getting a few more dollars from Acura to get rid of the 2020s. Trying to get an OTD price around $40.5K.

Demo Vehicles: 2020 MDX SHAWD & Tech - showing up on dealer web pages. Cars listed as "Corporate Fleet" - can they be financed through Acura Financial to get that additional money Acura offers on new vehicles? If not, does Acura provide dealers incentives to sell their demo units.

I was offered $40k for a FWD with Tech Package but they wanted me to finance through them. The lowest they will offer if I finance through my credit union is $42,300. I’m looking to be closer to $39k. It’s a 2020 so the car is already one year old with 22% depreciation. Based on the MSRP of $50k, depreciation would result in $11k off, so $39k is the max I want to pay. I keep going back to dealer with $39k and they won’t bite. I don’t get it.

As for your desired price, you can keep on badgering them about what you want. They could care less what you think about a depreciation number as it relates to the sale price. They are still trying to make some sort of profit. I haven't looked at numbers, but your offer of 39K must not resonate well with their profit plan!

The dealers will not even take cash. I tried that with my recent purchase. The best deals will be had with Acura Financial Services financing the deal. The dealers are getting kickbacks from corp to push all transactions through their financing arm. Like it or not. You can always do what I did. Just take their financing and pay it off immdiately. They may sing a sad song about them not making any money if you pay it off early. But the terms of the loan don't bind you to the 3 months they are asking for. I paid mine off as soon as I was issued an account number. Roughly 25 days after deal was closed.

i would think they would want to be moving these off the lot with ‘22s on the way. I bought my mother in law a CRV when they were transitioning to the new model a few yrs ago and they had no issue giving me the depreciated figure with new model rolling in. Not wanting to close a $1000 gap on an old model is beyond me. It’s not like we are far apart, nor am I being unreasonable. I guess they are just looking for more suckers who don’t understand the concept of value.
#172
The holdover vehicles will move at some point. They still have some time before a the '22's arrive. Based on what I am seeing here on the forum chat, many of the '22's heading to the dealerships are already spoken for. So they won't be on the lot long. That still leaves the holdovers taking up space. The pricing you and others are after may be easier to get once they do start getting the '22's on the lots. Do you have another dealership to run your numbers by? And you are right, someone will pay that extra 1K, and still walk away with a nice vehicle at a decent price. Just not as decent a price as you are after.

Nice car at a great price, congrats. Was the $37.1 OTD and if OTD, what is your sales tax % where you live? Did you have to spar with them to get the price and did you negotiate face to face or online? Congrats on your new ride.

2020 MDX Base AWD with Roof Racks Installed Price?
Hi all, getting ready to work on getting price quotes for a 2020 MDX Base AWD with roof racks installed. When I last bought my 2014, the roof racks were $864 extra installed.
- What should I be aiming for as far as a price before title and taxes. Is $35,000 reasonable?
- Should I aim for $800 extra for roof racks.
I'm not in a rush and can hold out as long as the dealers need to get the 2020s off the lots. I'm in Central Ohio near the plants where the Hondas and MDXs are manufactured so Acuras/Hondas are very plentiful here.

Thats a target price. Have not bought yet. May put out offer online Friday since it is end of month. May also roll dice and wait until end of Feb. Still seeing what looks to be enough 2020 MDX inventory to last 3+ months. Larger dealers are now showing on their websites 2022 MDX on lot, Only a couple of units for test driving but within a few weeks, they will likely have a half dozen or so to move. Good luck to you.

Look at the Acura dealer websites in your area and you can see which ones are showing them. The big dealers get them first. Here is one example.

No. It was $37100 plus tt. The MDX prices are a little steep in my area for whatever reason. But this is still a great price IMHO.

Hey everyone. New to the site. Looking to purchase an A-Spec and not too many available. Got two quotes from NJ dealers.
first
MSRP $56,425
discount -$9300 (includes 5500 for standard rate finance)
additional 1500 for conquest
Taxes and fees $4400
OTD $49800
second dealer
Similar discounts OTD $50,200
what do you guys think of this pricing?

Pete - you are now experiencing the law of supply/demand firsthand. A-Spec supply is low and dealers know it. Point of reference for you. I bought mine in Sept 2020 and paid $44320 pre ttl and $47201 post ttl. Those prices INCLUDED the following DIO’s I wanted (heated steering wheel, all weather mats 1st/2nd rows, wheel locks, splash guards, trifold cargo mat). Prices included financing incentive of $5500 and loyalty rebate of $2000 at the time. Wisconsin taxes but bought in Illinois due to more dealers competing against each other.
People are seeing much better deals on tech models but they are still plentiful. If you really want the A-spec you may need to accept a slightly less discount than if buying a tech right now. Good luck!

Very few if any 20 A specs, Hybrids and Advances left on the dealer lots. Best deals are on bases and techs because there are a bunch out there. Still not a bad deal on an A spec.

Do previous year models like 2018/2019 drop a lot soon as these 2022 hit the dealers? I am thinking lease trade ins should be coming in next week and some what flood the market?
20 MDX Tech AWD - I got a quote for $45k + TTL. Then they came back with $42k + TLL. They also are trying to get me to purchase some add-ons. I think if I got it close to 40k without the add on's, I could pull off a payment.

This thread was very useful in my search for a new MDX, so I'll share my deal:
Houston, TX
New 2020 MDX w/ Tech (FWD)
Price: $39,337
Conquest Incentive: $1,500 (I own a Honda Accord that I did not trade in).
Net selling price: $37,837
TTL: $2,813
OTD: $40,650
Interest rate: 2.89% for 60 mos. through Acura (Most dealers wouldn't go under 4% with similar discounts. I planned on refinancing, but 2.89% is decent enough that I'll just make extra payments and will save the hassle of refinancing.)

so the 40k and 41K OTD deals for MDX Tech AWD are no longer available. Apparently there were December only deals...
As of now, I get 39.8K Sales price for AWD Tech, and with 4.15% tax, OTD is 41.9K. This is with Conquest and financing with Acura at standard rates.

You think they will bring it back shortly? I look at various dealer websites and they still have plenty of 2020s on the lot. Larger dealers have 2022 on their lots and smaller dealers have one or two 2022 demo units with more on the way. I am not a first year model buyer but I would pay a few thousand more for the new model as it looks a lot nicer if I could not get the Dec price on a 2020. Thanks for sharing what you found on the 2020.

If you're considering buying a leftover 2020 MDX, take a look at this video. In addition to getting a great deal you'll also need to consider depreciation.

If you are buying to drive it until the wheels fall off, why would resale matter? You're not going to get jack for it anyway in the end. Whether it is '20 or '22, find the best deal that suits your needs and buy it.

if resale value doesn't matter, everybody just buy a Kia.
#196
I agree. Resale value always matter since most people do not keep a car until it goes to the scrap yard. If you plan to change a car whether it be in 2 or 7 years, you want to at least get a decent return when it's time to sell it.

I hope there aren't many people buying any vehicle, not just an MDX, who are thinking about the value of the vehicle WHEN they get into a wreck. To me that makes no sense. If concerned about depreciation, never buy new. No matter what the brand. You're hosed as soon as you sign if buying new.

Is This A Decent Offer or Just a Starting Point?
I'm in the process of getting price quotes on a 2020 MDX AWD base. So far, the two lowest offers have been $37,281 and $37,525.
Is there room to negotiate here? Should I offer 35,000 including roof rails, cross bars, all weather mats, splash guards and extra key fobs?
There are at least 20 of these models in my preferred color within my metro area. I'm not in a hurry and can be patient.
I also have a 2008 MDX - should I negotiate trade after negotiating the deal, sell on our own or sell to Car Maxx?

1) Do NOT bring up your trade during the deal; Bring it up afterwards. You need to get the most out of the trade and the best and lowest price on the new vehicle. First, just to see how much CarMax will give you, take it there for an appraisal (many automotive youtubers do this for ages now).
2) If its already installed, then go ahead and offer $35k. Just be prepared incase if the dealer doesn't want to go to $35k; If its not installed, you could certainly try, but I will bet that they will not come down to $35k if they need to install said accessories.
