I was actually surprised that the plastidip protected the paint as well as it did. This is after nearly 2 years. Too bad the paint was bubbling already. I've mostly stripped it down to the base. It's actually a nice glossy black underneath. Thinking maybe Ill paint match the smiley face part... or maybe the whole grille. What are your general opinions?

Paint match or vinyl the smiley part to body color.

I already bought another grille

But I figured I would wait until I can get one of my designs machined before I take pictures and post here. I still wanted to get the OEM grille fixed up since it was in poor condition with the bubbly part though.

Yeah I already checked on it. I've already surpassed warranty by a long shot. And my extended warranty wouldn't cover that either. I couldn't even get them to pull out the factory curtecy bulbs that fell in the door without them charging me. My dealer kinda sucks.

I redid my grille this weekend. Peeling off clear coated plastidip is a nightmare. I gloss black vinyled it and it was really difficult. Did you do the CF wrap yourself?

Yeah I wrapped it myself... It took me about 3 hours. It was difficult to cut out the emblem. And in the FL sun you can see that the vinyl just split around the the edges. Still doesn't look too bad though. I had planned to wrap the smiley face part too but I said forget it and just used plastidip instead haha

Oh yeah clear coating PD is a very bad idea.... i tried that on my decklid spoiler. Bad idea.

vinyl wrapping is pretty difficult and time consuming but with a real heatgun it's much easier.

wrapping the smiley is a PITA. I had to disassemble the whole grille to do it properly. probably around 5hrs to take everything apart and do it.

Yeah I spent probably around 6 hours this weekend peeling/wrapping. It turned out great minus a few small creases. I completely dissembled the grille.

I need to re-wrap my door pillars. the passenger side got a wrinkle :/

And Ive realized why our door pillars start to look so shitty. It's our hands. You can clearly see the vinyl fading where the door is opened and closed. My rear pillars still look shiny and black since I wrapped them but the driver side and passenger is starting to fade.

I have before pictures but I forgot to take after ones. I'll try to take some today, but they will be crappy since it gets dark so early.

Using a heat gun is loads easier than using a hair dryer from my short experience with vinyl wrapping. And take off the door panels yourself its easier than taking off the grille..

They fell inside the door?

There are clips on the bottom of the panel... pull straight out and it just pops off.

You don't even need to take the whole panel off. start middle bottom of the panel... grab and pull directly forward. That should be enough to get your hand in from the side and put the light back in.

Though this is true in some cases, I've dealt with a door panel where instead of pulling straight out, you have to push up. But the 2 Honda door handles I repaired was pretty much yank the bottom panel off and lift the top panel after removing that 1 screw.

Don't you have the mechanics manual? lol Stop being a little bitch and "hulk that shit" - Ssjoeboe9

^^ Well on the TSX panel you still have to push up if you want to get the whole thing off.
But if you just want to get to the light you only need to get the bottom part off. He may also have to unscrew the three screws. (i needed to unscrew only one under the handle).

a shitty paint edit but it works.

the circles are where there are screws and the bottom is the clips. you gotta take out the window switches too. there is a little notch you will see where to pry up.

next time i take off my door i'll take some pics lol.

I can't believe you paid someone to change your transmission fluid. its 1 extra step from changing oil: Jack up the rears too.

Well I have a new grille already installed, but I just wanted to get the oem one all nice for when/ if I wanted to switch things up. I wouldn't need it back in a hurry, just gotta figure out if it's worth it to drive down there or ship it.

I didn't wanna post a picture because it's only temporary until I can get one of my parts machined and installed.... But maybe I'll post a pic if y'all aren't too critical of it yet.
