I have gotten into an email conversation with UR. Apparently someone told them I was making derogatory comments about them. I know I don't consistently have the nicest things to say about everyone (as customer advocate will tend to look at things from a customer perspective, after all). But I don't recall saying anything that would jeopardize my good business with them. So if there is an air out there that say I am talking sh!t, it should not be the case.

That being said, without having specific involvement in this case I probably should not have commented as though I were. At the end of the day I defend these products and took some exception to the claims within this thread. By association, I got a target on my forehead. That's ok, I can handle that. The thing that gets me is, I don't like customers out there holding negative opinions when they are not warranted. Not of Heeltoe, or a product we endorse, or anything else. The best thing we can do now is see if the grievance here is warranted or not. So, when we get the opportunity to resolve it, we will!

Thanks to you, Pyrodave. I was not expecting that, but that is the sort of thing we try to achieve. People are the most important investments we make. Not inventory. Profit is a byproduct of doing a good job.

warning: this is pretty off topic, and mainly my opinion, but i am being honest here, so read whatever you want, or just skip the post. its up to you =P

Marcus, Honestly i think that UR may just be butthurt that you are doing something that they refused, for a product that you didn't create/sell and they did. they literally reaped the profit, refused to satisfy the customer, and now you are likely losing profit, to make two of the members here happy. essentially cleaning up their mess. that is remarkable, and really one of the only reasons i took my time to stand up for you. you stand behind the products you offer, even if the company that produced them does not. (seriously, dude you might be a little crazy. thats like an Acura dealer fixing a car that another dealer sold when acura refuses to fix the problem, just because initial acura dealer also sells acura's. go see a doctor =P)

keep doing what your doing, if i had the capital, and i bought my TSX and it wasnt just a lease, i would be buying many products from you for it(including the gorgeous grill which is SO CLOSE to being out lol). in a few years, when i buy my own car, trust that i will come to you for any products that you may offer for whatever that car is. thanks for being one of the few decent business's/businessmen i've encountered.

Other companies, take note of the only way you will breed loyalty and truly not fail. just an aside, Subaru isn't a big name brand like mercedes or BMW, but they are having no problems staying more than afloat in the recession. they build good cars that they back, and therefore customers enjoy and rely on. BMW's are bought simply because of the prestige they bring, but BMW doesn't have nearly as many loyal customers. more so, they have customers that trade their cars for benz or audi. like interchangeable parts. they don't care of which logo they get, just the price they pay for the amenities. but Subaru owners cherish their car and will hand it down to their kids, or get their kids a subaru. i know, because i know many subaru owners, and was actually debating on a 2010 legacy. but i loved what the TSX had to offer, and for that price, i had to take it. no doubt i love acura. hell i have 3 in my garage now, and only 1 benz for my family for 4. that speaks volumes. if i owned a company, i'd rather be compared to subaru, not a BMW or something. (subaru was just an example, volvo is a similar idea, but its all a matter of opinion. i like some benz/BMW/audi's, but i like the general car, not the entire brand, or what the brand stands for. i love acura's, be it an RSX, TSX, MDX, or whatever. i love the brand, not a specific model, though i do love my baby TSX most!)

to everyone that agreed with my other comment, i know im not a huge part of this community, and im only 18 and still learning alot, so i don't have as much to offer as some of the other members(like HeavyDuty for one. you've taught me a good amount, along with defcon and many others, i can't name you all. <3 though), but i hope i can be a slight voice of reason when all you big "adults" start the bullshit bickering. it put alot of people down in the crossfire and went from being intelligent and educational to downright flaming very quickly, and im not trying to be a hero, but i just wanted to try and help put things in perspective before it got too far. <333 to the fact that i didn't get attacked and it actually did work as i had hoped.

hope you all enjoyed my 4am essay. im hyped up on a vyvanse cause i just drove back down to university in philly today and have to be up for class in 2 hours hahaha

The only "LED" mod you can do to the front of the car is Daytime Running Lights (DRL) though on the TSX you'll lose hi-beam in doing this. Most of the time thats okay, but on a dark road it sucks.

I did a bit of poking around to see if there are any differences besides electronic gizmos between Tech and non-Tech and 09-11 TSXs. Here is what I see so far:

1- alternators are all the same, including the pulley
2- crankshaft pulleys are all the same
3- batteries are all the same

So there seems to be no good reason why these pulleys may work on some cars but not others.

I will try to get that 09 non-Tech I had in here and see if I can measure the alternator output on it. Maybe that will be more revealing...

What I think it is, is the extra draw of the components
In the tech package. Navigation, better stereo, more speakers etc. So you need to turn on all components I.E. Lights, navi, heat, fog lights etc and then test. When I had the pullies on my car alternator was putting out 12.1 volts and that wasn't with anything on. When I took them off it was putting out 13.8-13.9 with everything on.

you also had it installed by the same place right? ecko and matt?

im not trying to make excuses or put blame, just clarifying. controlled variables and all.

and i guess we'll just have to wait a few months and see how it goes. there have been plenty of success stories though, so im thinking if it was installed right, it should be fine. maybe not, but thats my assumption for now

How is your belt run? Is it the same belt pattern as stock or different like me and matt were told to do. Also I still have the UR alternator pulley on so like I've said before. If something went wrong with the crank pulley install I'm sure the voltage trouble
Wouldn't be my first sign of something wrong

Well this is where the story ends, mostly because I never want to think about it again. UR was never any help, blaming me, blah blah blah. Heeltoe did spend a bit more time investigating to find out everything should be the same. I was waiting to hear back after they found a 2011 TSX but that never seemed to happen.

At this point I thank HT for doing a little digging but had hoped for a bit more after the in depth conversation I had with them.. but at this point i'm just closing this chapter of TSX life. haha

I'll post the parts in the Black Market where i'll just leave the price open-ended. If you need the parts, feel free to snap them up, if not, move along.

Thanks all for following this saga, we all learned a bit, had some laughs, bitched at each other and just generally had different view. In the end it was nice to get different views on the subject.

Thanks,
Matt

Although I own a 1st Gen TSX, I never believe in UR pulleys either until I heard some personal feedbacks from some friends. I recently bought a set for my car awaiting to be installed. From everything I have read and heard about them. they seem to be a decent professional company that operates in a medium level and is respected for the products they produce. They haven't fail in other applications so far, I doubt they didn't do enough R&D on the 2nd Gen TSX.

I hope everything solves out soon

Hi all, just thought I should give a little input.

The "direct fit" which some shops say the Gates K070705 belt is with the "alternate routing" will NOT work. When you will stress the charging system (cold weather, bad battery, etc) it will fail to charge. The belt does not have enough friction with the alternator in the new routing to properly move it and it will slip. After a bit of slipping, you will polish the alternator pulley and this will further decrease the friction available.

You should install the K070669 belt which UR list in the "install instructions" of their pulleys for the TSX in the STOCK routing and all your problems will go away. K070705 is listed as direct fit for the Honda Accord, which has indeed the same engine (K24Z3), but it seems that some parts are different.

Shops who list K070705 as direct fit for the TSX too are simply ignorant.

Charging went from ~13V max at idle

(seems I can't edit a post).

So, charging went from 13V at idle with nothing on with the alternate routing and about 11.5V with all on at any rpm to 14.2V at idle with nothing on and 12.8V with everything on, moving to 14V at about 2000rpm and staying there for any rpm. So you draw the conclusion

so he's saying that with

belt K070705 he got 13v with nothing on, 11.5v with everything on

and with
belt K070669 he got 14.2v with nothing on and 12.8v with everything on

and he's saying that according to UR install instructions, they said to use K070669.

rezare, could you tell us what kind of tsx you have? year? tech/non-tech? any other mods? upgraded speakers/subwoofer etc? just for further reference is all

I have an Euro Accord from 2009 with Navi and all other gizmos, so I'm guessing it's a TSX Tech. Nothing upgraded on the stereo/electronics side, just the regular premium system. I do have all the other engine mods currently available (runners, CAI, spacer).

I wouldn't say it's an user error, rather the shops are misleading (for example, from where I bought the pulleys they only stocked K070705 for both tsx and US-accord). UR is probably receiving a lot of flak for nothing. I've been in contact with them, but I'm not sure why even them weren't sure (or insisted) that K070669 is the right belt and instead accepting the "alternate routing"
