Too much work.

I'm trying to be hip and cool like all the youths. So I've just started to expect everything spoon fed to me.

What if you need another utensil besides a spoon? Example being pizza or steak.

Hmm. Just read that there was some data breach recently: 45 Million Accounts Hacked At Some Of The Biggest Car Forums

Of note, one of the VerticalScope brands is TSXClub, VerticalScope.com

So it might be worth changing your password over there if you have an account.

It's like the special needs version of Acurazine but only for TSXs.

Hey stranger!

I guess I'll get in touch with EquuSearch and have them call off the search party.

Just bought a new HVAC Display from a 2011+

Got it on ebay for $38.. may seem trivial for most of you guys, but those 2009-2010 TSX's know the ridiculous reflection problem all too well! 2011+ got a different design to help mitigate so much reflection. I've been watching ebay for like a year now, but most of them were going for like $100. Anyways, Im excited

Could it be the cover that goes directly in front of the LCD? Maybe 2011 has a polarized one or something. I've never heard of the issue so I'm just taking a guess. The LCD display for mine is pretty basic and still looks bad when there's a glare (especially since I've moved mine lower and don't have the plastic screen over it).

There is a clear plastic "hood" that's in front of the display on the 09-10, it creates a ~2in air gap between the display and the clear plastic piece ( kind like your speedometer). Anyways, the reflection is really really bad, but on the 2011+ they just made a flat plastic piece that's pretty much sandwiched on top of the display. It really helps cut the glare. Also funny enough.. we reference the TSX in our design as a cross-check to ensure we never have that problem again haha. It got such horrible comments that they had to change it immediately on the 2011+

And I haven't checked the specs, but I expect the clear plastic piece on the 2011+ has some type of AR or AG coating. I'm just happy to have gotten one for $38

My 2012 has polarized material in front of the AC display. With one pair of sunglasses, it is almost completely black.

anybody here know anything about noises?

So I'm back in DC from my drive to santa Fe. I drove my wagon there, flew back and will fly back to Santa Fe in a month or so to pick my mom (and my car) back up.

Meanwhile I'm driving her mint condition 2002 RX300 AWD with 33k miles. All maintenance done mostly on time and just had a service done.

Periodically (about once every couple drives), I get a "brrrrt" noise accompanied by a slight vibration and a little twitch to the right. The noise is very short (less than a second) and always happens at low speed from a rolling start under slight acceleration. Frequently it'll do it when turning. Sometimes it won't do it for 100 miles, at other times it'll do it twice in 5 miles. I don't remember hearing it before I got an alignment about 500 miles ago. My sister drove the car a few weeks thereafter and was the first to mention it. I couldn't replicate it until I started driving it regularly.

If I had to guess I'd say it was coming from the front - maybe the right.

Any ideas?

Obvious question #1: are the lug nuts tight?

#2: how's the tire pressures? Could it be a slightly low tire causing ABS to kick in?

Good point on the lug nuts. Tire pressures are good. I'll have to go check the lug nuts now.

The guy on ebay had it listed for $50, I bid $20 and he said " It's not worth it because of shipping, Ill do $38" So I bought it on the spot hahaha

No DIY lol

1. Watch ebay for 2011+ display
2.Unclip old display
3.Clip in new display

It's that easy!!

Not the lug nuts I put the stock wheels back on and got the noise once. Any other thoughts? The problem is that I can't replicate it on demand and can't even record it because it is so short.

Really hard to say.

The "twitch to the right" is what I keep thinking about for symptom to work with.

If that really is happening, I'd be inclined to think about the brakes on that side hanging up or something. The accompanying noise is what made made me think ABS.

Is it a metallic noise like it could be a bent brake shield that's vibrating?

The "brrrt" noise is more of gears not meshing properly. Differential? Axle? Oddly enough, the more I drive it, the less it happens. It happened twice at the beginning on the 20 minute drive to the tire place to get the wheels swapped and once on the way back - about halfway back. I then drove about an hour with no noise and in to work this morning (another half hour) with nary a sound.

I was really expecting it to be a centering ring or something on the winter wheels but no such luck.

Ooh. Gear meshing noise could be the AWD?

With my old Tacoma, if I didn't exercise the 4WD regularly, it would sometimes make a grinding noise like that when going into 4L again.

I'm not familiar with AWD, but is there a way to lock it in place so it's active and then go do some tight turns (donuts!) in a dirt lot or something? Get everything moving and lubed up?

Although, it probably doesn't work that way.

but the intermittent thing is odd. I'd think it would do it at startup and after sitting a while, if that were the case. Which brings me back to thinking ABS. If the system were thinking that another wheel was slipping and it started engaging the front, could that be it? Again though, I don't know this Lexus AWD - if it's all time or on demand like that.

It is full time. I wonder if a fluid swap may be in order. Hasn't been done in a couple of years.

My name tag says "King of France" but that doesn't mean I'm royalty.

That guy in the first picture has a shirt that say "Houston" but I'm pretty sure we don't live in him. And Whitney's still dead, so...

Maybe things aren't always that identifiable McYoung.

What if we do live in his anusverse and we just don't know it

My car is broken lol..... wreckers bent my axle when they towed it and I went on a "cruise" so I kinda messed it up even more... It makes a nasty ass sound so I'm not even driving it anymore until insurance approves the repair. In other new, my PCD's should be here tomorrow so I can brap brap and annoy the fuck out of my neighbors when I head out to work

Are we Klingons?

Damn dude, sorry to hear that. Gotta keep that street racer lifestyle in check man; or this is karma's (carma's?) way of telling you to forget about the TSX for a minute and get the Odyssey running.

Have fun pissing off the old people!

The more I thought about it, it did sound like the ABS kicking in. Yesterday we had a bit of torrential downpour so I found a nice empty parking lot and activated the brakes. Sure enough the ABS kicking in made the same noise. And I just had the braked done before the noise started. So off to the brake place. Thanks guise. You guise are really good.
