09 TSX or Boat on Wheels?

It made the cut in 04, 05 and 06. When it didn't make the cut in 07 the 08 was automatically ineligible. Now that's its been completely re designed its eligible once again. The 06 was only a minor change so that didn't effect its eligibility.

What does MMC stand for again? If the 05 TSX didn't make the list, the 06 would not have been eligible. It wasn't enough of a change.

yeah they really cheaped out on the doors while the tsx has silver/gray painted plastic everywhere just like a civic

what pains ME most is that they took away from the TSX the thing i love most about it and what sold me on the car originally....the touchscreen nav!
they went with the non touchscreen garbage the mdx has. i hate it. boo for Acura!

Having said that, I think C&D were a tad optimistic about that 0-60 time. They do make corrections after all. I think future tests will end up in the low 7's. Road and Track's 0-60 was a much more believable (considering power to weight) 7.5. They don't make any corrections.

Further C&D got .85g skidpad performace that beats the original's, which I believe was around .79g. So it corners better. The only area in which there was no improvement was stopping. Both stop from 70 in 181 feet. But wait! The second gen is bigger and heavier, so actually if it stops in the same distance despite it's greater mass, that's actually an improvement too. Lastly, the 2nd gen gets better gas mileage despite greater mass.
Wasn't really disagreeing with you...and I'll say again.

But I'll also be very surprised if we ever see 6.7 again.

Not sure if you have the Aug C&D yet but have a look at the letters. A reader was wondering why a certain car (can't remember which) had different results in C&D's various tests. They claim there are 19 variables that factor in so results will vary, even after corrections.

Any all new model should have the better of the prev gen. This shouldn't be a surprise.
But I'll also be very surprised if we ever see 6.7 again.
Unless they were tested on the same day at the same track by the same driver, no the parameters were not the same. But I'm sure the 09 would still be quicker.

The latest C&D issue I have is the one with the TSX feature, which I think is July. I feel like that one just came, so I'm surprised August is out already. Maybe Canada gets issues sooner? Or perhaps my August issue will be in the mailbox when I get home.

Ya, the 0-60 argument should really be moot. I don't care for it too much either. I either get my issues later than everyone else or earlier. August came early this month, got it on Tuesday. Not a bad issue either. Z06 vs Viper ACR vs GT2 vs GTR.

The materials inside are top notch and feel good to the touch.

i never said it was any cheaper than the 1st gen. someone pointed out the cheap plastic doors (yeah doors) in a G35 while the tsx has painted plastic everywhere (yeah everywhere)

I dont need to test drive the one, not because I doubt its performence and handling improvements, but because for a new model, the improvement was just not enough to warrant a trade up.
if I had a TL and trading up to a TLS (manual) now that would make more sense but the 1st and 2nd gen tsx is no where near that kind of change.
that is why the conclusion stands, for new buyer, the TSX will continue to win people over, but it has also lost some thing to the 1st gen owners.
In my city, the TLS currently is the cheapest to lease comparing to other great cars like 335i, G, IS, C class. quite tempting
Anyways I'll continue to be happy with my 04 until a turbo/SHAWD comes out.
Here is a better picture if everyone still confused what im trying to say.
Imagine back in 04 I bought a 1000 sqf house. am I going to sell and move into a new house just because it's a tad bigger say 1100 sqf? no, because I would expect to move up to at least 1600-2000 sqf before even consdering it. And for those who was never in the market for a house, getting in to a 1100 sqf house makes all the sense in the world.
Before you can say, hey dude, you cant compare it like that, well im simply telling you whats on the minds of the 1st gen owners. We are not shooting down the 09, but rather we are disappointed because it was good instead of great
#155
silverrex....I think your best line was the fact that you are disappointed with the 09 TSX because it was only GOOD instead of GREAT. That, I can certainly understand but also keep in mind that your expectations of the 09 may have been higher than others, so in their eyes, the 09 is GREAT. I was an 06 owner until last Thursday where I picked up my 09. Do I think the 09 is better than 06?? Of course, otherwise, my 06 would still be in my garage instead of my 09. This morning, I drove by the dealership and saw my 06 in the used lot, did I feel like I made a mistake...NOPE....My g/f is so sick of me just getting super excited everytime I turn the key and take the 09 for a drive and rave as to how happy I am. For the short time I have had my TSX, I get ALOT of head turning and people telling me what a great ride I have...maybe the aerokit on pwp makes a bit of difference...point being, I love the exterior looks, I like the smoother and less harsh ride, I like the extra room, I love the feel of the new steering and just how more refined this TSX feels. Maybe I was getting tired of the sportier/stiffer ride and this difference in ride to me, justifies the purchase...different ride feel, different sheet metal, different interior layout, improved pick up at lower speed....thats improvement enough for me. Going from an 04 to an 08 for the ipod connection for example, that would have been the analogy of your 1000sqft vs 1100 but I think this 09 TSX is the full 1600 Don't get wrong, I am not trying to dicredit your statement at all...I dislike how people get their panties in a knot everytime people say something the other doesn't agree with. I am just saying that for some (like myself and several others here)...the 09 TSX will offer something that they feel is far superior than the previous generation, for others, it won't.....Its not a big deal. The same will happen for the TL, the same happened when the Lexus went through its changes a few years ago or when the BMW changed its sheet metal in 2006. We can appreciate we live in a world where there is lots of diversity and the ability to pick and chose what we like....there used to be a time I loved blonds...recently, brunettes are starting to tun me on again

Like I said, no harm in your comment...I am used to them by now on this forum, but when you drive around in this puppy, you get none of these comments....

I honestly don't know WTF people were expecting???
Honda gave us a car that works better in every way. It is quieter, more powerful, uses less fuel, has more features standard, handles better, is quicker, has way more grip, just plain works better, and COSTS LESS.
My CU2 shits all over my old CL9 in every way. Our Euro CL9 didn't have the power your TSX CL9 had, so the power difference is heaps noticable, despite the extra weight.
You make some very good points. I agree, if I still had my CL9, I wouldn't trade it on a CU2. I would want something heaps different like RWD/AWD turbo. I would think the BMW boys were the same with the E46 320i and E92 320i. They're different models, but the same car.
It is easy to bag the CU2, especially if you are never intending to get one. I guess that is what all you guys are doing.
