tranny warranty questions...
I have experienced the tranny problem like a month ago w/ the check engine light/TCS on and i brought my car to the used car dealer(non acura dealer that i bought my car from, 9 months ago). My car has 64k+ and they said that it needs the tranny replaced, and brought my car to the certified acura dealership for my tranny to be replaced. It took like almost 2 weeks to get done.
Told me its free because its covered by the warranty, i guess. After that they gave me my car back and told me that its good to go. Then after a week the tranny is having a problem again, and there is also a leak under the car w/ is like the tranny fluid because when i look on the tranny fluid its almost out, check engine lights on again. Then i brought the car again to the used car dealer "again". Then after 2 days..they told me that its the tranny issue "again". And told me that that it will now cost money if i wanted to get it done. what should i do?
question#1: If you bought your TL on a used car dealership(non-acura)...will it be covered also by the acura tranny warranty(100k)?
question#2: Is the tranny warranty really not covered anymore after the first time it was replaced?
question#3: Or is it still covered as long as it is under 100k?
Any input will be appreciated, thanks. Needed help badly.

The AUCRA warranty is from the manufacturer for 7 years -100,000 miles- and provided thru any ACURA DEALER, WHY you would take the car back to the seller AFTER the dealer replaced the trans ???
If they replaced the trans and it leaked- thats their problem- not the original sellers
Go back to the dealer who did the replacement and tell them the problem- you got a bad trans from them
Ask for a free loaner car while yours is being repaired- a few days to a week is normal- a bit longer with the holidays and warehouse closures
There are many on the board who have had 2 3 and 4 transmissions replaced all under warranty- sometimes you just get a bad one.
Never ever go to the used car seller again for anything - I am sure they would be happy to charge you- and drive the car to dealer for free trans replacement-
Heck- for $3000 I will drive your car to the dealer for you!

Also- in the morning call Acura Customer Care and tell them whats going on. By your cars VIN number they will hava a record of all warreanty repairs made to the car and any other issues you may need to know about
Also go to Acura.com= ownership experience and register online- that will tell you about the extended warranties.
Do not let the used car dealer try to say they replaced the trans for you or other bs
Know the truth!

I totally agree with 01tl4tl.
As long as your transmission is under warranty, only have transmission work done at an Acura dealership.
Your warranty coverage will only be honored at an Acura dealership.
And by taking it anywhere else you run the risk that they might do something which will void your warranty.

Question one: yes. i bought mine about a year ago and my tranny went out last month...it has 66k miles on it and it was covered by the *extended factory 100k warrenty on the power train. Mine would go above 35 mph, so the dealer sent out a tow truck and took it to the nearest acura dealership (1 1/2 hours away) this was also covered under the warenty.
I would suggest calling acura support line, they put me in touch with my local dealer who said that i shouldn't take it to a used car lot. you might have to agree to pay for towing/etc but i had the same symptoms as you. good luck and don't take no shit from anyone, if they give yo ua time call the 1800 number in the manuel and report the dealer. good luck!
*due to the recall/class action lawsuit

question two: once it's been replaced the only warenty you have is a 10k/1 year parts and laber from the dealership. if it goes out again after that, you'll have to front your own racket! good luck.
You know what I did today..called the acura client services then ask them about the problem. They told me the same thing, i should brought my car directly to the acura dealership..My tranny was replaced nov.27,2006, so most probably im still covered by the warranty. I did contacted the DCH montclair acura and im scheduled on jan.3, guess its ok. Hopefully all goes well...and they told me also that i would get a loaner. Thanks a lot guys for your help..im so glad to be part of this website.
Really?? cool man, can't wait...but the thing is, i dunno if my car is still drivable because there is a leak on my car. we'll see, im going to pick up my car later...worst come to worst, il be calling the towing service.
but its not that bad...im only like 10-11 miles away from there.

You are covered no matter what or how many times as long as you are under the warranty period.
