i have only tried one direction with the hammer hitting from top to bottom (counterclockwise)when i am under the car, i am pretty positive about the turning direction, just not sure why is it so tight, perhaps a trip to the autoshop for them to loosen it up for me.

Its going to be tight. counter clock wise is the correct way to go but it would be from the side of the car. Reef away.

I use a 18" long (maybe a bit longer) 1/2" drive ratchet and a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter. Works perfect.

Use a 12mm on the oil jet...

I would replace every 30k at the minimum.

Genuine Honda ATF-Z1 works. Dexron-III(H) + Lubegard HFM works. Amsoil ATF works. Your choice.

It's a part that was included in one of the recalls.

Remove oil jet with 12mm socket
Use 3/8" Breaker Bar to remove drain bolt.
Use 3 qts of ATF-Z1 type fluid.

Why remove the oil jet when doing the trans fluid change?

How else are you going to fill it?

Remove the 12mm bolt that holds down the oil jet onto the bracket. GENTLY pull the jet assembly up and out. Some fluid will drip out so be sure to have a towel handy. Remove the 24mm (?) hollow bolt if necessary if your funnel does not fit.

Filling through the dipstick tube is the worst idea...ever...beyond me why someone would want to do that when oil jet removal can be done in less than two minutes, and this is coming from a person who has never been under the hood of a Honda in recent years.

Totally agree on this DIY! 116,000 on my '99 with the original transmission fluid let alone transmmission.

It took my 20 minutes at the most because I let the transmission drain until it stopped dripping. Being able to let ATF or the engine oil drain until all of it comes out is one of the benefits of doing it yourself. There isn't a line of cars waiting to get the oil changed...

And change your cabin air filters!
