Cooling Fan
Ok, I've searched plenty.. Similar problem to me but one thing that's different.. My fan doesn't come at all (not even when i turn the car off), it use to when it was cold and i would let my car warm while I got ready. I could hear it coming on for a while then turn off..
But lately I haven't noticed it at all, and if i sit for a while as if in a packed drive-thru or just plain sitting in drive with my brakes applied (traffic or long lights). The temp will start to go up. Then it would go down once i started driving and air was flow through everything.
I had my radiator flushed and refilled about 2 months ago and my fan was still operating. I've also noticed the overflow tank, is empty.. was full a week ago but yesterday it was completely empty and the engine was cool.

Don't worry about the outside temp, just turn on the A/C and see if the fan still works. A few years back, the temp sensor was telling me my car was at 105 and the fan still wouldn't turn on. Once I turn on the A/c, the fan kicks in and the temp drops.
oh wait a minute, are you talking about the engine temp (H/C) on the dash or the temp (number) where it's the inside cabin temp?
And as for my experience, it was a lot of short trips on that day. Ever since that time, I never noticed it ever happening again.
