wats up, just a uick question? does anyone elses tl burn alot of oil! i asked a question not to long ago bout vtec kicking in late so i checked i got NO oil!!! wtf my car gobbles up oil! lucky nothing happened! so is there a reason why i burn so much oil?!>help PLEASE

The engine might burn up a little bit, but it should not be anything serious...

If I were you I'd check for leaks. Make sure the drain bolt is tight, with a metal washer, make sure oil filter is on tight, etc.

 

Is it normal for the TL to take some oil? I find myself putting in a quart after 5k to bring it back to full.

 

My car stays just about full all the time...My dads car burns a little off, its a 03 tl-p. So I would assume that as long as you are not leaking oil, and you are conscious to keep an eye on it, you'd be alright.

 

How often do you check fluid levels? Who does your oil changes?
How long ago did you last check the oil level?

 

well i usually do mine oil changes everytime my maint light comes on, but yeh i have NOOO oil i couldnt believe it, i checked the dip stick about 5 times its clean!!!!! i didnt see no leaks the oil filter it on properly, the bolt is on properly! i actually got scared! i had no idea my car burned so much oil!

 

My type-s motor uses about a quart in my 12-15k intervals. I typically replace the filter and top off the oil around 7500 (at which point its down around half a quart)

If your TL is using a lot of oil, the first things to look for are leaks, from the valve cover gaskets, oil pan, oil filter and a over looked one the Rear Main Seal. If none of them are leaking have a compression/leak down test done. You may be burning it.

Yeah, me too !

My 99 burns about a quart (liter) every other month. It doesn't seem to come out the tail pipe or leaking out on the ground. It just seems to consume it somehow.

Anyone else have this issue !
