Brake LAMP light on after replacing bulbs

My Brake LAMP light came on my dash a couple of weeks ago so I ordered some new bulbs and just put them in. Got in my car and stepped on the brakes and it is still coming on. It only turns off when I turn off my car and will come on and stay on after applying pressure to the brakes.

What else should I look into? All my brake lights are working (before and after replacing the bulbs).

Is it possible that the third brake light in the rear window needs to be replaced soon?

Question, Are the replacements LED or just regular bulbs ?

Check all your lamps again. The Brake Lamp light should turn off when you fix the burnt out lamp.

So it's always tricky when you're home alone and need to check your lights while pressing the brake pedal

My wife came home and after looking at all the lamps (I forgot there are inside and outside brake lamps in each taillight) I noticed the drivers side outer brake bulb was not getting brighter when brakes were applied, but it was turning on with the headlights.

I replaced it with a good bulb and issue resolved.

Thanks for the help

Yeah, it's always a good idea to just replace all the bulbs at the same time.

One at a time for me. ALL my bulbs (except roadlamps) are factory, so over 13 years old! (jinx)

I'm with you Tosh! I just had my first two factory brake lights go out at the same time. 13 years is not bad!

Two at the same time? On the same side? Interesting!
Thinking out loud here: In a current-limited circuit (due to to the length of wire) that has parallel bulbs, if one burns out, it permits the other bulbs to draw more current, and in turn, causes them to also burn out....
Or maybe you just hit a big bump...

After over 10 years on the original bulbs, it's well worth the time and a few bucks to replace all the rear bulbs.....rather than chance a blown bulb at a busy intersection some dark night. Unless ya like to be rear-ended !!!

I guess you're just an impulsive worry-wart and don't know how to play the odds in the component failure game?

There are five brake light bulbs on my CL-S. I prefer the survival odds on an old loyal bulb that has lasted 13 years over a set of untested new bulbs.

I guess you're the gambler and enjoy playing the odds, so to each his own.

Replacing old fragile bulbs with quality brand new ones will last ya another 13 years, while the old loyal bulbs could blow at the next stop.
Cheap insurance IMO, especially if ya already know the bulbs are showing their age and questionable dependability down the road.
So, for less than lunch's price at McDonald's......just replace them all when you're working on a bad one. Unless ya like living on the edge.

McDonalds isnt good for you anyway. Skip a few meals there and you can easily afford the bulbs and get healthier in the process

I love how this thread about Brake light bulbs turned into a discussion about the price of a McDonalds McDouble and your health.

Are you sure it is the "Brake Lamp" light that is on and not the "Brake" light?

It was the "Brake Lamp" light.

The issue has been resolved long before McDonalds and the McDouble.
