What are shaved door handles?

Can someone show me a pic of these? I've seen people with this listed as part of their mods, but I don't know what the heck it is..

If you have them on a TL that would be even better..

I think they might be referring to not having door handles at all. I've seen this on some civics where in order to open the door, you'd have to use a remote.

Shaved door handles are doors with the handles removed, and they weld a plate or body fill the hole where the handle was. So the whole door is smooth looking.
I had this done to my Mustang, and I used my alarm to open my doors.

it looks sleek on a 4 door, seen it on an accord... but its a b1tch to get in the car if your battery dies.

Someone on the Accord V6 board said that he had thing where if he got locked out he'd go under his car and connect these two wires so a back up battery opens up the trunk. I think that would be the only safeguard for the TL w/shaved handels.

I work with this girl and she has it on her early 1990s Civic, with no power locks. Thus she has to leave the window partially open in order to open the door from the interior panel. When I ask her why, she says it rocks. BTW, she is a hottie, but I am way married.

I just dont understand why anyone would want to compromise the door sheet metal, and as daverman said, I like the door handles.

Back in college, I had a friend with a CRX that had shaved door handles. He had to use his car alarm to pop the door open. When his alarm got f'd up, he had to climb into the car from the trunk... and that was some sight!

The concept of having shaved door handles is that it makes it hard for thieves to open doors. My friend showed me before that by incerting flat head screw driver into the key hole and twisting it a little bit, he was able to open the door that was locked. So, if there is no key holes, it makes the thieves to open the door by that much harder.

If you want to see a pic of it, you can simply photoshop it by painting over the door handles the body color.

I dunno...

Sheesh... what's next? Shaved steering wheels? I guess I'm in the "door handles are a good thing" club.

Thanks for asking the question edub... I didn't know either!

If this was true, all you'd have to do is "shave" the keyhole only, not the entire handle. Just remove the key barrel and fill the hole in with putty, then repaint.

not true, if you shave the key hole, they can still slide a flat head screwdriver in between the door handle outline and door itself. the only way to eliminate the problem is to shave it completely. as long as your windows can autodown through the alarm then that will be a good secondary way to get in. the primary is to run a soleniod to it similar to how you pop a trunk through an alarm. good luck on it Astorboy, i'd love to see how it would look on a TL.

heres a 4runner that WCC did...they shaved the door handles...custom painted, lexus grille, shaved turn signals. i think shaved door handles look good and it gives the car a real clean look.

Does anyone think that 4 runner looks really really weird? IMO The shaved handles and grill look good but the shaved corners look weird and it looks too low.

They have door poppers which at the push of the button the door will 'pop' open. it doesnt swing open it just pops out alittle and than you can open it
