I just seafoamed my '03 TL-P with ~45k miles today also (I'm getting an oil change tomorrow). 1 can in the vacuum line, 1/2 can in the crank, 1/2 can in the fuel (which I did last week). I let it sit for 10 minutes, then went for a spirited drive. The engine definitely responds better now, it revs up better. Seafoam is great!

I can imagine it's hard to hold the camera and drive, but once you got it up there, I couldn't even see the cars in front of you. It almost makes you want to yell out the window what you are doing so they don't look down on the TL.

Question .. I just bought some Seafoam and I'm going to do it soon. Do I have to put it through the PCV Valve (I can't even find that on my 3G TL). Can I just put half in the oil and the other half in the gas?

Er, I should have read before posting. From what I gathered through the last 2 pages .. it's critical putting Seafoam in the vacuum line, correct? I have to head back to Autozone and get another can.
1st: 1 can in a 1/4th tank of gas
2nd: 1/2 can in the oil.
3rd: 1/2 can into the vacuum line
Is this all correct?

1 can in 1/4 tank gas
up to 1 can in the vac line- then smoke should be coming from the exhaust- stop engine- let sit 15 minutes - no more- then drive like escaped mental patient to blow gunk out
the oil you do 5 minutes before changing oil

I'm asking on the wrong subforum but, where would I find the vac line on the 3g? I've looked with no immediate clues .. heh.

I think its the same place as gen2 shows in pics- so I will guess a little her:
driver side iner fender- remove the 2 or 3 plastic engine covers on that side- find a black rubber hose about 1/4" diameter coming off the middle of the engine- directly behind the center of intake manifold- that is the hose you want. Follow it around behind and thru some clips- you may have to snake it out of those to make fit your use- then it reaches the valve mounted to the body with a hose coming off it below the one you are looking at. Top hose is your vac line DIRECT to intake manifold

Hey guys, just letting everyone know that seafoam at kragen is currently 5.99 a bottle. I also have a coupon that im posting on the main page for 25% off everything in the store. I bought an electric impact wrench from kragens for 60 bux, which is a great deal considering how much that damn thing saved my life when i was installing my springs.

Holy f*cking cow!
I went to Kragen and they were $6.99!! Damn...1 can in the gas tank and 1 in the valve. My engine choke and shut off. I turn it on again and let it suck up the whole bottle. Turn it off and waited for ~10 minute. I turn the car and you could not believe what came out. Someone call the fire department!! I was turning out the the parking lot and white smoke came out. I drove for almost a quarter mile with 3 red lights and that stuff was still flying!! People behind me and on the side of me must be thinking "Who said Honda/Acura were reliable" I went on the freeway for a drive for ~20 minute @ 4k RPM. I almost forgot that my driver license has expire and I'm waiting for a new one....
My CEL came on. Is it suppose to go off automatically or do I need to reset it?

did you do the vtec runs too? that gets things clean!!!
cel will clear- you had a lot of bad stuff
use thumb to push throttle control while adding seafoam
Dip and remove vac line into seafoam so engine doesnt stall

I just picked up two cans and will be doing it later this week or weekend. Should I do the 1 Can per 1/4 Tank first since Im almost there or should I do the 1/2 Can in the Intake manifold first and than the Gas Tank or does it even matter? Im thinking since its cleaning two different components it really doesnt matter.
Also Im hearing some people are pouring it into the Crankcase and others are pouring it into the oil fill cap? I have to ask where the hell is our crankcase or is most people just putting it into there oil fill which is easier and Im guessing works the same.
Also has anyone used Seafoam for the Transmission. Im very curious on what feed back is on that if anyones used it?

Alright thats what I was figuring. I wasnt sure it people were talking about putting it into the crankcase box where the crankcase valve is....wasnt sure. Just wanted clarifications.
So is it okay to put it into the fuel tank first and do the Intake manifold later this week or next weekend? Or should I do the Intake first and the Gas after or at the same time?

as long as you do it- whatever is ok!
the important thing is not to add it to the oil/crankcase/oil filler cap, until you are ready to change the oil and filter
The 1 can is 1/4 tank is the super scrub dose 2oz per 1 gallon of fuel for cleaning the injectors. The vac line method blast the valve stems and seals and the piston tops, where mucho grungo lives
Have fun! remember to do multi full throttle runs into vtec during the hot foot drive to clean everything good while its warm and pliable
I get a full can in the vac line by using left hand thumb on throttle and right hand to dip hose in can- dip and remove- dip and remove- rest can on ATF fill plug- works as a helper

Just did mine but white smoke only came out for about 2 minutes. Nothing came when I started, only when I accelerated. I only used 1 can though, but it does run a bit smoother. I'm going to seafoam the trans next!

I freaked out last week did my oil change and spark plug change. After the seafoam my car died and didn't start for maybe five mins, found the vacuum hose came loose did it again runs like a champ.

My CEL light is on after using 4 cans of the seafoam. Hopefully the cel will turn off.
One can for the oil, 2 can in the gas, and one using the vacuum line. Smoke only gave out for like 2 minutes

Its crucial to do it with warm engine- then let it sit 15 minutes MAX and then a hard drive to blow out the gunk
Make sure to change oil right away- within 50 miles MAX after adding to engine
The CEL is usually from stuff getting stuck on the O2 sensor and will burn off in a day or 2

DO NOT USE the trans stuff- unproven in acura transmissions

hey i got about 67K on my 2002 3.2tl , had my plugs changed about 6-8 mo's ago...like 3k miles ago...
i wanna do the gas treatment only...will it mess up my plugs?
should i just add it to the gas and then run it around till its empty? or just leave it standing???
or i have to drive it in a spirited way till i run outa gas and then refill???
also how long after till i gotta get a oil change...
help is appreciated.

Seafoam hits Boom's car tomorrow, and then an oil change next week!
Just hit 100k. I'm pretty sure this beast is going to spit out some crap.
I can't wait!!

I couldn't wait. I did the seafoam tonight. I was actually surprised that it didn't spit out as much white smoke as I thought it would. I used 2 cans. 1 in the gas tank and 1 for the crank case and the pcv valve. After driving around a bit I could tell the motor was able to work easier by the sound of it. I also noticed a better jump on highway pedal mashing. For 100k miles, the original owner kept this car very well maintained. I am extremely happy with that, and the new feel of the vehicle. Overall, a good 14 bucks spent.
While out checking things within the engine compartment, I looked at all the belts, and they look brand spanking new. I'm wondering if the original owner had some maintenance done earlier than expected. Where I live it could be considered severe driving conditions, so it's possible that she had some stuff done around those intervals instead. Who knows?
I drive barely 22 miles a day. It won't be too long until I get the oil changed. Don't worry.

You didnt get smoke because you didnt do it thru the intake vac line as instructed
DO NOT DRIVE until you change the oil!
not much???- even the factory says 50 miles MAX
Most of us idle in the driveway then change it
For best results, 1 can in 1/4 tank of gas
1 can in intake vac line
the last owner probably changed the accessory belts, common easy thing for tech to replace when owner says I am selling the car- change the oil and whatever it needs
It does not mean new timing belt unless you have a receipt for that

Ok, let me start by saying how much of a skeptic I am, and that I read every page of this post. I have also searched on Google to see if I could find what I am looking for.
From what I have read, what happens from using seafoam is that your car blows out a lot of white smoke and then it supposedly idles more smoothly. Some people have also experienced a smoother shift in the transmission, but cause is unknown.
Well, I know that you could put oil in your intake to get the smoke, and the smoother idle thing could or could not be true, its rather subjective.
Is there anyone here who has any MEASURABLE results from using this product? Such as tearing down an engine after having used this product and finding zero carbon deposits on the valves, pistons, heads, valve guides, etc. Everything that I have read so far is a subjective opinion of what happens from using this product.

Well I know some people said there transmission shifts better but mine is the same before and after. However, for the results you are looking for are going to be hard I dont think anyone here has taken apart there engine.
Look at it this way its a few bucks and so far nobody has had an engine failure because of it so if worse comes to worse all you have done is wasted your time.

Yes our Moderator fsttyms1- pulled his motor apart at 200k miles
He had been using seafoam and doing oil changes at extreme change intervals of 10k miles or more- with analysis to verify all was well
Inside his engine was like new.
Seafoam is a solvent- the same product the places with a machine use, except they run it in gas thru the fuel system. We do the gas tank- and direct to the valves and pistons via vac line for best results.
Dont drive with solvent dilution in the oil- the crud has probably filled the filter to its limit as well.
The smoke is mostly the initial solvent burnoff- then you go for a hotfoot drive and crud comes out too
Read their website- read the can- money back guarantee, and my local zone and kragen, both say never had a return asked for.
Or do you think we all just imagined the results???
