you sure? it's probably how you drive your car. if you use ss, and shift always at red line, you should be able to get past 120 easily. on the other hand if you just use d5 you can still get there but it could take a while.

i tried it on my tls, using ss and shift when redline, i got to 120 with 3rd no problem, and it was fast. after tht it's 4th gear and it accelerates much slower coz' our 4th and 5th are overdrive.

even with a normal tl you should be able to get up to 110 using ss at 3rd, so passing 120 is definitely no problem

and btw, our car is limited to 149mph i believe.

120? You should be able to do 140+. 4th and 5th gear are overdrive gears like what rominl said, so it will take awhile to get up there in speed. If you can find a deserted highway or something try again and just stay on it. You will eventually get there.

okay, if you have a TLS what probably happened is you were in SS and never shifted from 3rd gear...that would cause the car to hit the rev limiter and it would not gain speed...that is the only damn way it would have stopped at 120, other wise it should have been smooth sailing...Shyne

Its gotta be obvious if you are hitting the rev limiter. You can't just hit the rev limiter in 3rd gear and not think to upshift. I think he just got into 4th gear and the car was accelerating so slowly that he thought he hit the top speed of the car and gave up.

well as long as you got about 1000 miles on your car it should be ok. i have done over 120 two times and man, make sure you HAVE enough distance to brake. our cars do not have the best braking mechanism at high speed.

yup, dont' expect the same kind of acceleration in 4th and 5th, they are not good. one thing you could do is to go over the redline in 3rd (before it hits the rev limiter), and so when you shift to 4th, you have a bit higher rpm. once you hit vtec again in 4th you will roll again

Find a highway or a long strip going downhill. You will be in 147+ mph in no time.

Interesting that some can do 150mph+ and others are struggling with 130. Perhaps the motor was not brocken in properly? Perhaps you kept that first oil in for over 5K? SUCKERS!!! he he he

Damn, and I thought my 147 mph speed was fast...

Time to find a secluded spot (preferably downhill) to try getting past 150+ mph.
