My check engine light came on about two weeks ago but nothing seems to be wrong. What do you guys think?

 

I know that for the 99 TL, there is an EGR recall that will fix this.

what is EGR?

 

Exhaust Gas Recirculation. They installed a new "kit" in my 99 TL, and the Check Engine Light stayed off. A side effect of this problem was that the Traction Control System light would also come on, even though it seems to be unrelated to EGR. I have read of at least one other cause of check engine light on; not keeping the gas filler cap tight enough.

 

Go by the dealer and get it check. Is possible that it is the EGR clogged, which there is a fixed with a recall already mention. It could also be your tranny! I had the engine light come on last week for transmission failure, but I had acura reset it and is running fine.

 

The check engine light can even come on because of a loose gas cap. Go to the dealer and get the codes read. They'll tell you what went wrong (if anything).

 

You don't want to drive the car too long with Engine Check lights on.

Take your car to the dealer ASAP!!

 

I am having the same problem with my check engine light coming on and traction light coming on, on my 99. Can a clogged egr hurt performance, because on the highway my car is a pig sometimes.
