Weird revs in reverse

Does anyone have this weird phenomenon with their car as well? This only occurs when I just start the car in the morning and throw it into reverse. The tach keeps jumping from 900-1000 back to 900 then to 1000 again, over and over again all the while I can hear the engine gasping. It sounds as if I'm slightly reving the engine, letting go and reving the engine again.

At first I thought it might be because I didn't warm the car up enough, but it's summer and it gets pretty hot early in so cal. It was already 75 degrees at 8am and I did warm it up for a minute or so every morning. Any ideas cuz I'm

Thanks!

That happend once to me a week ago. Same conditions too...early morning on a nice warm day. I started the engine and put it into reverse right away. I don't think it's a big deal. I just put it back into park and the engine smoothed out quickly. Perhaps I didn't crank it long enuf or just need an oil change (which I do)

If it happens all the time, then I would have it checked.

Yeah, i agree -- if it continues, get the service people at Acura to look at it...

Mine did all sorts of funky stuff before I need to have the tranny replaced. Sometimes you have to wait till the tranny does something significant for the dealer to accept the fact that it's damaged.

I'll be sure to mention this at my next service. In fact it did the same thing this morning. My roomate was standing next to my car as I backed it out and he was like "what the hell is wrong with your car"

If it is indeed the tranny I'd rather it die now then when my warranty is up. Just sucks though cuz I was babying it right after I heard all the threads about blown trannys.

Thanks for the replies guys.
