sorry, you mean 3 of them.

I think he meant he'd have 2 6MTs.. the WS-6 and the TL.

Kris is supposedly going to install CL-S6 gauges so it won't be an issue.

Im going to get the gauges, i just havent done that yet. I want to see if my cluster will work (and just buy the faces) or if i have to buy the whole cluster

Because i didnt install it for good yet. That was just put in to test to see if it fit under the hood. I pulled it back out last night and actually cleaned it up a little. Headers? not right away. I may try to see if i can get the DC headers to fit sometime this summer Im not terribly concerned about adding more HP right now as i am getting it to work properly

Just ran into a small snag. I need to figure out what harness i have to order now. I took my ecu out today and the plug isnt the same as the one on the new 6 speed ecu. Im assuming its the INSTRUMENT wireharnes?? I see there are 2 harness to buy (dash and inst) i need to figure out what one. (conector E) and judging by some of the pin outs im thinking its the inst?? any ideas??

yeah, I got that but where does the signal come from? The transmission or a sensor on the axles? That's the part I need to figure out since I won't be using the Cl-s like you.

What kind of hood mod would you do? I'd think a power dome doesn't really fit with our car. Are you thinking a little hump like on the 2nd gen Eclipse? Faux hood scoop?

I'm thinking you might try a modified Firebird Trans Am hood from the late 70's. I want to see that "6.6 litre" on the side!

P.S. I just checked the specs on those old cars... 400 cubic inches - a whopping 180 hp... Now THAT'S american muscle... (NOT!)

I would just cut along the alread there hood lines and just slightly raise it. It wouldnt be a "hood bulge" like most are thinking, like you would see on a old car.

Well duh.that right in the middle of the emissions crap. Chesk out the same specs 65-70 and i bet they will be ALOT higher. also look at the special options modles and 1/2 year models. they will be pushing 400hp

For fsttyms1

Your conversion looks good so far. If you need anything from here let me know (within reason, as big parts would cost alot to ship)

The clutch didn't come with the alignment tool? Every Luk clutch I buy has the tool in the box (stupid dealer clutches are not DIY friendly). If you lived closer, I'd let you pick out the right tool from my pegboard and borrow it. I have several Honda alignment tools, but don't know which one that would take. I tried looking it up on Mitchell and came up with nothing.

Yea teh one you buy thru the dealer (the only place you can get a clutch for teh stupid car) doesnt come with a clutch kit tool, because thats issued to the dealer. I have no idea what it looks like or if any ol honda one would work. I for the life of me i cant find a damn tool in the state.. Im pissed at honda for this kinda crap. Plus i have to fabricate a tool to compress the pressure plate too.

someone may have asked this already, but will the 6sp manual tranny bolt up to a 2003 tl-p motor? i would love to keep my car, but really don't want to mess with the ECU or any of the hundreds of feet of wiring in these cars. i could accomplish the mechanics of the tranny swap easy enough. the extra power from the type S motor isn't so important to me.

It will bolt right up but you are going to run into having to trick the ECU somehow. I didnt feel like messing with trying to figure it out, but im sure it can be done.. The ecu in our car controls the AUTO tranny along with the engine. With the manual in there it wont know what to do.

It will work however it won't rev past 5000rpms or so because the ecu won't notice the car is in gear. You will probably either need to run a standalone ecu or cl-s 6 ecu for it to run properly.

I guess I dont know the difference...and havent read the entire thread. But...why does the TL-s engine sit closer to the hood? Arent the cars the same body and chassis arrangmenet?

Definitely get a 6-speed ecu. But good luck..because those things will cost u an arm and aleg. Estimate..ranging from a thousand to two thousand. new. Your not going to get it used..unless its salvaged..and from what I hear...not too many CL-S 6-speeds were sold..so also good luck in finding one that's destroyed.

the TL-S motor sits higher due to taller intake manifold. The redesign on the TL in 02-03 is for the type-s motor. The hood sits higher to allow more clearance for that engine

That's great.. =) glad it worked out for ya. Because I know a 300zx 5-speed chip is 800 dollars...brand new...list price. But there's always ways around the system. I bought one used for 90 bucks. lol.

Hey Kris,

Took some crude measurements and there is no way the TypeS intake manifold is gonna clear the 99-01 hood. If you look under the hood, you'll see that they pretty much cut around the shape of the IM to get it to fit nice and snug. Sucks for us.

NSNEXT wants to fit the Type-S manifold on his car, thats why he is interested in the fitament. But I don't see the issue as Kris already said it would fit. Although no one knows if there is enough wiggle room in there for the engine to move a little.

I covered the top of the mani with shaving cream about 1 inch thick and after i closed the hood and only about 1/4 to 3/8 inch got smushed out/donw at its closest point. Like i said, im not sure how much the motor moves but it kinda looks like it will work. Guess ill find out first time i floor it wether it hits or not??

Did you at least test fit the IM on your old engine?
