since you're using a CL ECU there won't be any transmission "ghost codes" so you're safe there, but since you're radically changing the setup of the drivetrain, etc. you may want to check up on your state laws regarding vehicle modifications.

i know in NY it's illegal to modify your vehicle in almost every manner other than stock. obviously this doesn't include wear items like tires and wipers, and obviously most cops won't bother you for rims or lowering your car. i know you have some friends who are on the job so you may want to see if they have a "friendly" shop around.

or perhaps you allready thought of this and i'm just rehashing old news....

just looking out for you.

Dont have inspection here. Not even emissions testing!
Even if we did it wouldnt matter. What im doing would be no different than buying a 50 something ford and putting a chevy engine in it (a real engine) Or all the umpteen thousands of people who do engine swaps in their civics and integras across the country

that's pretty good. sounds like wisconsin is fairly lax. i don't know what the nys law is regarding engine swaps but i know they hook up to the OBD port now and scan the engine during inspection. but it sounds like you don't have anything to worry about either way

There will be a obd2 conector in this swap as well. Im not getting rid of the emisions stuff, just swaping stuff so it shouldnt be a problem no matter what state you live in.

Not all of us in Wisconsin are lucky enough to not have to go to emissions testing, I live right outside of Milwaukee, we have to, after you go up north a little was like where fsttyms1 is its starts to get very lax, like no testing!!

True. The idoits running milwaukee think of the dumbest things, like a few years ago the fuel they made every one use was causing headaches. You would still get away with this swap down there though. There is nothing that would make the car illegal to drive anywhere (unless i decide to accidentally not put my 200,000 mile cat back on)

i think what i meant might have gotten lost in translation. i would imagine no one would want to delete their OBDII port since it makes life easier for diagnosing problems.

are you doing a lightened flywheel or anything like that with the manual? i don't think i saw it in your earlier posts.

Just stating that there should be no reason that teh swap wouldnt be street legal no matter where you lived.

No. Only comptech makes a Flywheel OR clutch for the car (and im not spending 1200 bucks on something like that). You cant even buy a clutch from any auto parts store. It has to come from the dealer.

I need to take some pics of my new stuff this week(hopefully I will remember) ...hurry up and feel better...

by the way, kris..they have like 2 2000-2003(TL-P) gauge clusters on ebay..im going to buy one and try to swap the gauges from a 2003 6 speed and see if they work still...or see how much rewiring it needed for it and I'll let you know if it works.

I should be winning the auction in the next few days at which I'll order the gauges for the 6 speed. I'll start messing with it once I get it also

It would be nice if our cluster worked so we could just buy the face covers

It would have different harness hook ups I'm guessing. For example, we have the d1,d2,d3,d4,d5 section etc. I'm just getting a used cluster for like $30 bucks, and buying the gauge faces ..for like 25 each I think they are..and will just swap them over. As far as the size of the cluster between ours and the 6 speed one, I believe it will fit perfectly.

Oh okay, so you're actually opening the cluster and putting the faces on. In other words, it will still light up behind the white faces but you won't be able to see it?

Looking at teh manual the plugs are the same, but looking at teh wire traces on the circut board they are different. I dont know if they will work or not??? Only way to find out is to plug them in and see. Hopefully within a week or so (when ever the remaining parts i have ordered come in) ill be able to find out.

I'm guessing. We will see. I couldn't find a CL-s 6 gauge cluster to use and didn't want to buy a new one(I might) but didn't want too. I'm not going ot be running a CL-S 6 speed ecu so I might get the whole cluster now that I think about it

U do realize that means i have to turn the heat on in the garage, wait for it to warm up, dust off the tools ,move the car to the center of the garage, mount the tranny to the engine, hook it up to the engine hoist, set it into the car, re mount the hood (which means changing socket wrenches). Geesh dont ask for much do ya

You shouldn't be on Acurazine unless you have a laptop and you're in the garage.
