is this coming from a wrecked car?

did you get the whole front clip?

sounds like a fun project. i would love to own a manual tl i think it would make it a blast to drive.

your probably pretty lucky, i can't imagine that many wrecked cl 6speeds around.

good luck and post pics and make a sticky for this thread.

But do keep us all up to date with your DIY project.

i dunno if that's true, but i heard the type-S motor is a no fit in the pre 02 TL due to the larger intake and TB...

have to verify on that

Im not sure it will. I need someone with the type-s engine and measure something.
My engine already sticks up over the fender, which leads me to believe that part of teh redesigned front was to get teh hood higher to allow for the type-s engine

run a board from the top of the intake manifold center of the TB and measure from the fender lip to teh bottom of the board (like teh pics below)

looks like you might have to do a front end swap too.

If you look at the pic above, measure from the fender lip (the surface that the bolts that bolt it down sit on) to the bottom side of the board that runs across the center of the intake manifold

No ever said its not possible, and if they did they don't know what they are talking about. But it is gonna be extremely difficult to get figure out the wire harnesses and get all the electronics working. The mechanical end of it shouldn't be too bad.

2 7/8 inches, Kris. I used tyhe handle from my rake and layed it across the intake manifold. I didn't take the plastic cover off the IM, but should only be 1/4 inch or so.

Hmm - it's a lot more than your measurement in the picture...

Looks like you'll be needing a front end swap!

We get alot of noobs w/ under 20 posts asking about converting the auto CL's to a 6spd CL... I usually say, anything is possible with enough time and money... Most of these guys are dreamers or back pocket mechanics (when mechanic work needs to be down, they reach for their wallets)... They post, realize the difficulty and never post again...

Since Kris is doing the work himself, it's just going to take some time. He's been in there twice to R&R dead trannies, so it's obvious he knows what end of a wrench is the business end

There are days i wish i didnt know what end was the buisness end. It would be much easier to bring it in , but alas more expensive. Yea its going to take some time, this si getting to be the busy time of year for me when i spend alot of time on the road. Im hoping to get every thing in by the end of this month though. (wether it will be running or not
