03 TLS Intake issue?

Hello, I'm creating this thread because i can't find the words to describe it shortly. I have a '03 TLS with 244xxx miles. The plastic intake box has seen better days, one clip is broken and one screw is stripped. And it dosent seal the filter right. Because of this it makes a humming sound. So after it being like this for at least the 1.5 years I've owned I decided to do a quick fix a put some self tapping screws through it to seal it until I get a new factory set up or after market. Now that it is sealed it no longer runs right. I was doing 40 mph and put the peddle down enough for it to down shift the rpms went up to 4-4.5k I had no power, the more throttle the less power I had. Once I had it almost to the floor it recorded a missfire. It sounded like it was trying really hard, as well as a heavy suction sound. I then took the air filter out after driving for a few minutes it was normal again. Put the filter back in and same thing. The filter is still like new k&n red. Even with the filter out I can hear the suction/ vacuum leak.

Not sure what is going on. I would like to run my car with a filter.

Sounds like there is a vacuum leak somewhere, Definitely not an issue with the Intake air box.

I got factory filter, it seems to be doing better. But it still seems to lack the power I remember. I'm going to clean intake manifold the best I can when I get a chance.

Off topic but has any seen anything about the small altornator bracket braking often in the 2nd gen. Because mine just broke it's second one today. I did in fact "give it the beans" this time but it wasn't too much. I haven't looked quite into it to much yet.

Not sure how. It's broken in about the same spot both times. It got a new tensioner like 15,000 miles ago. It's also gone through a few altornators, two since I've owned it. When they went out my battery light and brake dummy lights came on. Found a thread that said it was saying that the altornator regulator I'd the problem not the alternator it's self. Any way here's a pic of the one that broke and the new one that I got off a 3.2 mdx.

Also I went on a road trip that took me from Salem almost to Spokane, Wa but I hot too much snow and I didn't have chains. So I turned back and drove through mount St Helens and back home. It happened as I was almost home.

Here's a pic I took during the trip.

That's interesting.

Is there a lower bolt also holding the alternator on?
