intake intake intake
I came across this auction here on EBAY. WEll what I hear from my friends is that intake is just bent pipings so more cold clean air flows into the car. WEll if thats the case anything well do right. So there is injen AEM and the icebox. and also this no name brand intake. what are peoples take on it. SHould it be the same except that AEM and INJEN have a sticker slap in the piping or does it make a difference it is name BRAND. PLACEBO effect anyone or can anyone give me the mechnical break down off brand name and none. Thanks

I disagree.... stay away from those imitations. If you're going to buy an intake and attach it to your $6500+ engine on your $30k+ car, buy a brand name intake.
Intakes are not just intakes. Now, I'll admit that I don't know the exact science behind them... but I do know that there are many brilliant minds on the CL board... several of who have tried to make their own intake... and a couple did so and produced zero gains... just noise.
Besides for the gains you get warranties with the name brands. AEM for example, warranties their by-pass valve. Stuff like that offers you extra protection should something go wrong and your dealer won't cover it. You really do get what you pay for... especially with intakes.
