My RL with its first (and only) Mod.

Ok, so snowboard racks might not be a mod to most people, but I waited a year for these things to come out. Now I don't have to worry about messing up my back seats when throwing all my crap in there. Thank you Yakima.

I think your chromed wheels would qualify as a mod

yeah, i usually hate chrome, but it accents the RL pretty well since there are strips of chrome all around the car.

Side by side with my slightly modded A4. Guess which one sees more snow

Off course, the one with ski rack sees more snow.
Nice cars.

Can you give me more info on the rack? According to yakima.com, the kit requires two separate Q Clip models. Do you know why?

It also appears that the rack goes inbetween the door jams. Did you cover your chrome window trim with something beforehand?

Hows the fit? Any concerns with the rack fitting in the door jams?

Thanks!

I believe 2 different clips were needed due to the spacing and angles between the front and rear towers. The width of our roofline changes as you move from the front to the rear. Anyhow, the clips come with an adhesive guard that you stick on which supposedly helps to avoid rubbing. I'm not sure how well they will work since the guard is pretty thin (basically a sticker), but it's better than having the metal part of the clips rubbing against the car's chrome liner.

I also had to guess at most of the measurements for the spacing since it wasn't included with the instructions. I suppose I could've called Yakima for a more accurate measurement, but it was a late night install. I admit the fit seemed kind of awkward, but it's pretty stable and doesn't budge. Thus far, there are no concerns with the door jams. The rubber liner on the doors seal pretty well against the clips and there is no audible wind noise (leaking) arond the doors. There's noise from the racks when you're going over 40mph with the sunroof slider open, but if you have the slider closed it's not noticeable (especially if you always have the stereo on). Hope that helps.

About how much did you end up paying for the rack and the ski attachment?
