I've owned a few phones since owning my RL so I figured I would add these to the compatibility list. I'm not sure this thread is relevant anymore but what the hell:

Sony Xperia X10
Sony Xperia Z
Sony Xperia Z3
Sony Xperia Z5 premium

Completely off topic, but I'm curious what you think of that phone. Given the number of models you've owned, I'm guessing you like them.

You are correct in your guess lol. I'm actually glad you asked! Don't get me wrong, the Xperia lineup does have it's drawbacks. To be honest, when I first started buying Sony phones, it was back when they were SonyEricsson and I bought them because I got them at half off (Mom used to work for Ericsson back in the day). When I started buying the Xperia smartphone line is where I started seeing the products separate themselves. Their displays and sound quality are second to none to be honest. Also worth mentioning That I've been "waterproof" since the Xperia z! I've had a lot of people look at pictures on my Sony smartphones and tell me how impressed they were with the quality of the display. I noticed that especially with my Z3 and Z5. I now have a 23 MP camera, but I will admit the best cameras I had where back when the Sony phone lineup came equipped with integrated cyber-shot cameras. I could almost swear the quality of the shots with my old c902 (circa 2009!!!) with a 5MP camera was on par with the shots I'm taking with my Z5 premium, especially with some of the moving shots and lower light shots.

The ONLY phone I didn't really like was the Z3. I'm not really sure what it was but something about that phone and the software just didn't work well together, especially with SMS and MMS. I had a lot of issues with unreceived messages. It's also worth noting that that was the only T-mobile branded Sony phone I ever owned.

The phones have gotten better in a lot of ways but I really wish they would bring back cyber-shot cameras into the lineup.

I just purchased a 2005 RL. I have an iPhone 6S (Sprint). Sitting in my driveway, the phone paired with Bluetooth without issue and I was able to make a phone call using HFL. The signal strength and battery status showed up in the small display above the steering column. I am presuming that I can receive calls and make them while driving, but I will try to confirm in the next couple of days.

I hope I'm not just repeating old news but thought someone might be interested.

Thanks

NM

Do not update your iphone to IOS 10. You won't hear them on incoming call after accepting it and while your listening to your radio, cd, xm it won't mute or switch to your phone. Solution for that is connect your phone to speaker and connect it back to hfl after accepting an incoming call.

When u accept the call, go to your iphone, select Bluetooth and change to speaker/phone and switch it back to handsfreelink.

I got the iPhone 7 on Monday (iPhone 5S died for second time). I had to pare it to the car twice, but it seems to be working ok (blutooth phone and music streaming)

I am able to pick-up incoming calls from HFL and also make calls thru HFL as I did with 5S. I did do the software update (which seems to have some other bugs)

I have a 2012 RL

Pairing iPhone

I am handing my '05 RL down to my boys next month, and we are trying to connect their phones to the HFL, but the verbal command process is not hearing me correctly. I am not able to go past setup to pair the phone. Is anyone familiar with another way of pairing a phone when the voice inside the car does not understand me?

Not that I'm aware of. I've noticed the voice command is very touchy when it comes to pairing the phone, specifically voicing the "phone setup". Maybe have someone else attempt it.

Google Pixel 3

I ha be a 2010 RL and my Google pixel 3 pairs and I'm able to listen to music and control it thru the steering wheel. Still haven't tried to make a call. I see the battery level on the display.

Are you getting Caller ID? I have an iPhone 6 Plus / iOS 12.4.3 and I no longer get Caller ID. What's weird is that if there's a 2nd call that comes in, I get ID on that call but not the original one. Can't figure out if this is an incompatibility issue between HFL and the iOS version or if it's just my phone.

Has anyone had success pairing with a phone on Android 10? I can't get my Pixel 4 to see the car's ping for pairing.
