I was playing around with the manumatic mode and noticed it wouldn't downshift if it meant the RPMs would be above 5000. I know the car has a lot of oomph left between 5000 and 7000 RPMs so I'm surprised.

Is this all RLs or is mine special? I have an '06.

 

Mine downshifts fine at 5k rpm.

Here's what my downshifts are, down to:

4th gear anywhere under 120
3rd gerar anywhere under 90
2nd gear anywhere under 60
1st gear anywhere under 30

that's rough guesstimate, might be a little more room in the 3rd.
