Trans shudder at 1700+/- rpm - cured !
This may be old news - my 05 RL transmission (150k) has developed a shudder when going along with constant light throttle, engine at around 1700 rpm. It would keep growling - until slightly more throttle will cause a downshift, then its smooth and noiseless.
I bought some "Lubegard Shudder Fixx" but was skeptical about using it. A few weeks ago I decided to give it a try - I was pretty surprised when it immediately and completely stopped the shudder. I've only driven a few hundred miles but it seems a durable cure - rolling along around 1700 rpm is now smooth and silent, even with light throttle. As always a bit more throttle brings the downshift - still silent. I've worried the problem would be an expensive repair, but 2 tubes of it cost only $13.22 (used both). I'm impressed - their "synthetic friction modifiers" work great.

I've had a similar problem with my RL since I bought it ~8 years ago. A slight shuddering and "growling" sound below 2k RPM with light throttle. It's usually worse in the colder months.
I might give this a shot.

Thanks for that - this made me laugh excessively:

This stuff is amazing! I was positive a small tube of goop couldn't possibly work... IT DID!
My 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0L V8 was giving a pronounced noise/shudder around 40mph. The noise/shudder was so pronounced I would frequently check to see if I was driving over the road reflectors on the center line of the road.
Knowing the value of the car wasn't more than $2500 bucks I figured taking it to a transmission repair shop probably wouldn't make sense.
Doing homework on line I found Lubegard Tranny Instant Shudder Fixx and thought, "I know it won't work, but, what the heck... Why not give it a try?"
I bought two tubes (figuring the first one certainly wouldn't work and the second one probably wouldn't, either), but the first one did the trick in under 15 minutes of driving after squirting it in.
I would highly recommend buying it!
(Now, if it could eliminate the still all too clear surprise tranny shudder I experienced the first time I was in Vegas at the young age of 22 and the grizzled old female bartender at the "MGM Grand" took pity on me (when the "girl" who I thought was really diggin' me went to the restroom) and leaned over the bar to me and said, "Hon, you realize that's a dude, right?" I would give this ten stars!)

I wonder if this stuff adds the "friction modifier" that Honda/Acura's own DW1 adds to Dexron 3. As of a few years ago, the one brand that included that ingredient was Valvoline MaxLife Dexron/Mercon ATF.
If so, I'd think that the 3-fluid-changes approach that replaced 91% or so of the fluid with this fluid would also achieve the same result (more expensively of course).

How much?

What makes you think it’s worth that little? You’ve seen the value of used cars right now, right? Hell, the carbon fiber drive shaft itself is worth that much.

CORRECTIVE EDIT - The growl was at 50 - 55mph - rpm around 1500-1700. After adding the Shudder Fixx, the growl was gone in the first mile driven and has not come back (about 500 miles driven so far)
I squirted 2 tubes in a small funnel in the dipstick tube.
