door handle pissing me off

My drivers door handle cover ( the small portion with key hole) is lose. I ordered the part (part number 72012-SJA-305ZC) and they keep sending me the backdoor set without a key hole. I know theres a TSB but that too is out of wack. I need the plastic cover only NOT THE COVER AND HOLD. ONLY THE COVER please help.

So, wait. You want the part that covers the lock or the long part of the handle?

Lock cover: 72184-SJA-[color code] $34.70
Handle: 72181-SJA-[color code] $196.69

Those are both the "Left" side which I believe is the driver's side.

(You can click the part number to take you to the diagram.)

Just the part that covers the lock. Heavy i didnt use glue because i dont think gluing parts onto a $50k vehicle is the way to go. If i was ok with gluing parts to my vehicle i would of gotten a kia

Don't under estimate glue. My inside door handle broke off. I glued it back on and you cannot tell

I do not understand this TSB shinanigan. Icontacted my local dealer about the TSB with the door handle and I was told that t would of been replaced if my vehicle was still under warranty. Go figures I missed it by two weeks yea Two freeking weeks. My issue is, if these a holes know theres a problem with their part/merchandise to the point they have to remodel the part, why wont they just replace the old disfunctional part. now i have to spend $50 for a replacement part.

Well, you could contact Acura, not the dealer, and request a good will. Acura is pretty good about helping customers out with known issues, especially the customers that are driving their flagship. Many times they will go 50/50 with you, but then you really have to ask yourself, "Should I go through all of this to get Acura to pay for $17?"

The answer of course is, "No." C'mon man. $34 to fix an RL part is a Godsend.

In addition, considering you have known about the issue for 3 WEEKS, I would not be blaming the dealer for your lack of haste.

Correction time. First off the day I notice the problem was the day I went to the dealer for repair options and that was we. I was told my warranty had expired two weeks prior. Secondly it does not matter if the part cost $5. The principal of the matter is if I buy a product and later discover that product is defective or inoperable I would at the very least expect a refund or replacement. This company not only acknowledge the defect in their part, they actually made a design change. So why is it so far fetched that I expect my vehicle to be repaired with the new improved part? To address the comment on being happy the part only cost $34 for a $50k car. REALlY? Who do you know that just buys things for fifty grand because they want to replace tidious parts that should not be defective. Finally ...... Where did you see the part for $34. I'm seriously interested.

First off, take a deep breath. It will all be okay.

Obviously your rage has blinded you from seeing even the help given to you after you have asked for it.

Secondly, there are many people here who have had Acura replace a part with known issue outside of their warranty. Many people are polite to the service adviser and work with them to contact Acura for good will approval. It has happened many, many times. If the dealer is uncooperative, you can contact Acura directly.

Still, I have only ever heard of this being done on expensive parts. Driveshafts, A/Cs, transmissions, etc. If it means that much to you, give it a try. The key is to remain polite, and people will want to help more.

And since I am so nice, here is the NBP part number with color code. 72184-SJA-A01ZC

If a service person has issue finding the part, since for some reason NBP isn't showing it on OEMacuraparts.com, here is the cover and cylinder part. 72012-SJA-305ZC I am not sure why NBP is special in this way.

Ok... That part number was the same one I ordered and they sent a metal base and cover. The only problem is that it is for the back door as it did not have the key hole cutout. The online part store has it listed as cover and hold. All I need is the black carbon fiber or plastic piece that covered the key hole area.

A friend of mine thought this, but then was grateful for me using epoxy to glue one on her BMW after being quoted $300 for the job. There's so much expensive stuff on this car that you can't just "glue" together. Leap for joy that you can on one!!!!

Carefully use Amazing Goo on the thing and be done with it! I use this stuff on other applications. It creates a very secure bond, but not so strong of one that you can't pry the part loose later, if need be. I have a similar issue with a rear door handle cover. Now that I think of it, that will be this weekend's project!
